This is my competition entry for Kickers x Outlook UK DJ Competition. I had a tough decision to make when it came down to genre. I couldn't find any other Techno entries and I also didn't see any mention or signs of Techno within Outlook altogether. 

I may be mistaken but I just had to do this set for this competition. There's nothing to say I can't enter a Techno set either so without further ado, here is my set of wobbly, popping, rolling, jumpy, BASSY and banging Techno set. Please have a listen and enjoy.

The Ruthless Raver - #003 Ben Turner

Mark Walker (UK) is a DJ/Producer from Scarborough in the North-East of England, he is an underground artist that has an ever-growing presence in the dance scene.

Since 2021, He was found to be focusing on his recently disbanded duo tech house alias, It had him travelling up and down the UK, playing various club events which saw him support artists such as Pirate Copy, DEL30, Elliot Adamson and Josh Hvaal.

His roots, have always been for driving, fast paced hard techno, which currently has his full focus. His style can be seen with driving basslines, distorted kicks and 90s rave elements/acid, finding inspiration from the likes of: 999999999, I Hate Models, Dax J, DJ Rush, Amelie Lens and Charlie Sparks.

His earlier releases came on SMR Underground, Advise Records and Botancia Records, Which was somewhat more, Minimal/Peak techno, with another that was released on Sound Klecske Records. Since these releases, his style has changed dramatically. Influenced massively by the techno brand Possession, which is seen in his sound change with a hypnotic industrial vibe, which is seen in his latest edits of Lady Gaga – Poker Face and the more recent Nelly Furtado – Promiscuous. The Promosicious Remix has had him getting the credentials from some of hard techno’s biggest acts, CLTX, CHRS and Sopik, having his tracks played all over the globe at events such as, Amsterdam Dance Event or Phase 2.

In 2023, One of Marks unreleased tracks gained support from artists such as Shlomo, Paula Temple and Luca Agnelli, and is due to be released on CLTX’s TX Records in April 2023.

Expect to see his face much more on the scene within the coming years.

T¥PE1 is a new up and coming Hard Techno DJ from Ellesmere Port, UK, who is bursting onto the scene with his mixes that are fuelled by dark synths and powerful acid basslines.

Since getting his first set of decks in December 2020 he has fallen in love with mixing techno for himself and other people to enjoy.

Inspired by the likes of Basswell, 999999999 and RBX he is looking to start to play at events and make a name for himself in the near future.

Monkey_Esquire is a House & Techno DJ, from Derby, UK. He has only been DJing since 2020, however he quickly grasped the art of mixing, which meant he has been able to create his own style of mixing, that he mixes in a certain way, which is best suited for the genres he plays. 

After going through a lot of different genres and sub genres, he eventually found his calling in the sounds of these sub genres, which he's been playing for the past year couple of years with his Techno. His House has always been in the styles of Tech House & Bass House, however with the influence of Techno he prefers the harder hitting Tech House which combines nicely with the Bass House he plays. 

The style of Techno he plays is Raw Techno, which is forever changing, whether it be subtle or dramatic. It's a constant beat that has groove to it as well, it's fast paced but not over powered by the the big bangs, of the harder forms of Techno. 

It's managed to make people feel what Techno feels to him, with feedback of the most unexpected people that connected with his sets. As some have said, it's proper Techno, like the Techno of old. He has managed to convince people who hate Techno, to listen to him play a set and they don't take long to vibe off it, now they have been converted and love this style. 

That for him as a DJ is the ultimate goal of succession, to be able to show the music he loves and feels most, to people who share that feeling from his sets. 

This set will hopefully show his passion especially as it's a extended recording, of the exact same set he recently played, at a Techno event called CODE which was held at Beaverworks in Leeds 08/03/2024. It's one of the purest Techno events going and it's free, but all three rooms are always packed, the next one is a day event called, CODELEEDS @ THE FENTON SUMMER GARDEN PARTY.
