The Lord has given us work to do. He desires it accomplished. If we are to accomplish that work, we must put all that we are and all that we have into it. As far as this book is concerned, we must work with all our might. Only then can we satisfy His heart.
This book is written on working hard. We acknowledge that there are other important things in the whole matter of satisfying the heart of God. In this book, we have tried to concentrate on working hard. The other aspects of satisfying God's heart have been covered or will be covered in our other books.

You can work hard in preparation for a high rank in the Kingdom of God.
You can work hard and improve your position on Earth spiritually.

What you can do, you should do.

What you must do, you must do with all your might.
What you must do with all your might, you should do at once.
The Lord God worked hard and works hard.
The Lord Jesus worked hard and works hard.
The Holy Spirit is working hard.
You go and do likewise.
We have written a companion volume to this book entitled Deliverance from the Sin of Laziness. Those who are lazy should listen to that book first and be delivered from laziness, and then, as they become free, they should listen to this one and master the art of working hard.
We write the book, not from a position of people who have "arrived", but as people who are at work, mastering and applying the principles that are written here.

The Art of Working Hard (ZT Fomum)

I am burdened by the increasing numbers of believers who know the Lord very superficially. They do not love Him. They find the time spent in His presence uninteresting. Often they do not know what to say to Him.
We live in a generation that does not provide for quiet. Everything is moving fast. There is so much activity going on. The leaders of the day, be they in worldly circles or in the Church, are activists. Those who withdraw to wait on God are few.
We believe that when believers, in an increasing number, begin to withdraw and spend time alone in God's presence, something will happen to them. They will know God and then they will seek Him more and more. They will serve Him from His presence and things will be different. They will make spiritual progress.
We send out this small book with prayer that the Lord will use it to help some make spiritual progress by withdrawing to seek God, know Him and obey Him.
If you have been blessed through listening to this book, please help another believer to hear it and pray that he, too, will be blessed.

Retreats for Spiritual progress

These messages that constitute the book, The Way of Spiritual Encouragement, were written while I was away from Cameroon to seek God's face and sort out many things with him. They have been a great blessing to me. I was shocked by what the Lord was saying to me and, by his grace, will say to those he will allow to listen to these messages. My own faith in him grew as I wrote them. I have been deeply comforted to know that God is so good, so loving and so gracious. My desire is to love him more and more.
I have received answers to many of my questions, and my problems have found solutions in him. Somehow, in a way I cannot explain, love has welled up in my heart for all his children - my beloved brothers and sisters in him - irrespective of whatever differences we have had. He has been good to me.
Because these messages were written over a period of 10 days, l have not done very much thinking about them. I have just allowed what God has put on my heart to flow out, and sometimes he has been gracious to allow things to flow out which l had never seen.
If you approach them as the sharing of something from my heart to yours, you will, by God's grace, be blessed. If you approach them as talks on doctrine, you may have problems. I suggest that you just open your heart to God and receive what he has for you.
I pray that you should listen to all the messages, for it may be that what God has for your need may not be in the first message nor in the second, but somewhere else.
If you receive a little encouragement and assurance in the Lord as you listen to this book, I will consider that as a bonus. The blessing to my own spiritual life, received as l wrote, more than compensates me.
May the Lord God, the author and finisher of our faith, be magnified for all the grace that he has shown to me, who am but one of his most undeserving servants.

Making Spiritual Progress

All believers are carrying out banking. Some bank in earthly banks, others bank in their stomachs, others in clothes, cars, and the like, while some bank in heaven.
The supreme challenge of our time is the effective presentation of Jesus Christ as savior and lord and the building up of the church which is his bride. This is a difficult and demanding task. If we are to achieve our objectives, then a wholehearted commitment is absolutely necessary.
At conversion, God puts his Holy Spirit within us. This sealing of the believer with the Holy Spirit constitutes a mark of ownership. If our lives are consecrated to the lord, then our property has to be consecrated as well. We cannot consecrate our lives and leave our property unconsecrated.
If property is to become available for the lord, it must be delivered from self: from that tyranny that wants to own it, control it and keep it for the use and worship of the self. Therefore, the Holy Spirit must sever our property from the world and from self.
The world was not only judged. It was condemned. It has no future whatsoever. The believer cannot truly invest in this world. We send this book out with prayer that it should stir the hearts of those who belong to the lord to acquire permanent riches by investing in the lord and in his gospel here and now.
Hear it and let your life be transformed!

The Christian and Money (ZT Fomum)

God, as the Creator of man, has given every member of the human race a talent or talents with which to function in his universe. You have a talent! Every human being has a talent. Some human beings have many talents, but there is no human being without a talent.
God has given each human being his talent or talents to help him to find his place in the universe. Discovering your talent, developing it and maximizing its potential will enable you to live and function in the sphere of labor that God assigns to you. Leaving your talent aside and trying to acquire the talent of others to do what they are doing or what they are supposed to do will lead to frustration. An ear cannot decide to function as an eye and succeed, neither can fishes decide to grow wings and succeed.
The person who starts with one or a limited number of talents and employs these faithfully to the glory of God and the blessing of man, can ask and receive more talents from the Lord for more service. The person who does not invest his talent for God's glory and satisfaction will lose it to the one who is more faithful. Besides losing his talent, he will receive additional punishment for wasting God's talent. Consequently, all who have received talents from God are accountable to him for what they do with what they have received.
Most of the time, God allows a person to maintain his talent or talents after conversion to the Lord Jesus. Often, these are enhanced or increased in the act of conversion; so that people are capable of doing more for the Lord Jesus after conversion, than they could do before. The talents of converted people and their spiritual gifts are to be used for the glory of God, the advancement of the Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ and the service of man.
