PG County emcee Toine - best known for his work as one half of the hip-hop duo DTMD - finally has a project of his own to boast about. A few weeks ago, he sat down with the hosts of Funkadelic Freestyles to discuss his new LP, Antoine Jameson. In this podcast - which contains songs from the album - Toine explains what motivated him to step out on his own, his greatest hip-hop moment so far, and what's ahead for him and his crew (hint: it's lots and lots of dope music).

At the young age of 13, Robert (Rx Lord) Lewis began battling at school Greenwood Lakes; causing a uproar amongst the students. It soon became a everyday thing- soon he met up with Rock Jaw, a local Sanford slickster who became a beat box and Mc- @ times even battling Robert Lewis; who @ the time was known as “Rock Lord Da Brick”. After months of battling different crews and winning; Robert Lewis began to make a name for himself- born in St. Louis and leaving there at 9, Robert’s mother Ruth Lewis and step dad William Lewis- looked to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city; and looked for a better life together- with better weather. First moving to the Gulf Coast- soon they thought that Orlando Florida would be a perfect place for marital bliss- and to raise a family. From school to school there was no place of refuge for Robert Lewis; but when he entered into Greenwood Lakes his 7th grade year things began to change drastically. After winning all his battles, a good friend of his by the name of Derrick Williams told him about a Dj. He knew, who just got out of the Air Force, and was looking for a MC; he told Robert that the Dj. Was locked up and will be out in few weeks. 

	True to his word Brian (Mix Master B) Graham, was released from jail, and soon he and Robert Lewis began to make demo after demo. Extending from 1988- till 1991; one particular demo under the name Brothers of The Struggle, really started to blow up in the Orlando area; and it was being sold out of Tiffany’s in Eatonville- by a local mom and pops store ran by Julius Dix. After opening up for The Dogs, Disco Rick took a liking to B.O.S (Brothers of The Struggle) and told Brian to give Jose (Joey Boy) Armada a call. Once Joey heard that demo- and heard the lyrics and Bass on one of the more popular songs “All Ho’s”, the rest is Miami Bass History. Joey boy thought that an earlier project, or compilation that they released in the late 80’s by the name of Bass Patrol- would fit Robert Lewis and Brian Graham as a group; thus from that point on now Rx Lord and DJ. Kid Fury will be known as Bass Patrol. Releasing their first professional album “Kings of Bass”; which was followed by a slew of Rx Lord and DJ Kid Fury Albums, from solo projects such as Furious Bass (Fury) or Ghetto Bass (Lord), followed by 5 more Bass Patrol albums. Though successful on a independent label, Robert Lewis felt as though he wasn’t getting the notoriety or the funds he should receive for the amount of effort being put into their projects.   


Rx Lord’s cousin Marcel (Ganxta Blac) Davis, then informed him on some investors in New Orleans who may be able to help propel his career into the fore front; Dj. Fury had already been investing in underground projects released by Rx Lord and Dj. Fury under alias names- One Snake Eyes (Chocolate Thunder) and O.B.G (Original Brian Graham), to create one of the most influential underground Central Florida rap albums ever D.M.P “BIG MONEY”. Later releasing- “Hustlers Pair A Dice”, and the “Legends of Quad” Rx Lord- n- Dj. Fury; which was backed by the investors Marcel (Ganxta Blac) Davis had found out of New Orleans, thus gaining Robert Lewis and Brian Graham a movie soundtrack, along with a video shoot for the comedy slap stick “Trippin”. Though they seemed as if they were growing, arguments over funds became an issue, Rx Lord was getting less than he was receiving at Joey Boy; and Dj. Fury was getting more than @ Joey Boy. The two agreed to make the transition to grow; yet Robert Lewis saw no growth for himself.




After F.B.I investigations for an incident that occurred in Memphis and continuous disagreements about money. Rx Lord Dj Fury disbanded shortly after the “Trippin” soundtrack. Dj. Kid Fury then went on to sell more of their material to Lil Joe in Miami; which further escalated bad blood between the 2. Later on Dj. Fury released a couple of albums that failed to reach the recognition that he had as a member of Bass Patrol. Rx Lord then relocated back to St. Louis where he started from scratch; recording a few underground cd’s then releasing two albums with former label Joey Boy. Iconic and forever memorable as a crew Robert (Rx Lord) Lewis and Brian (Dj. Kid Fury) Graham made a mark on central Florida; yet riches served as a hurdle that trips the best of them.
