Once upon a time, I made music in chicago. I did for a couple years and then took time to focus on myself, moved out to phoenix and started a career. I currently do photography and stream occasionally. I'm slowly getting back into my musical side again but nothing serious, more for the fun of it.

Jeffery Black, better known as Mr Black is and veteran rap and r&b artist from South side of Chicago, born in 1984 his roots are deeply planted in soul gangster rap and r&b. from his humble upbringing till his now well verse talented, impressive and amazing records he is the president and coOwner of his and long time friends (Byrdd7) production company (GBP) that was formed in 2006 as a rap lable but quickly became a self doing production company out of want and need, Now being around the industry for over a decade and half Jeffery black is still going mainstream with constant and solid albums and mixtapes over 12 years 

Since his emergence in 2003, Sonny BLCK has solidified his reputation as one of Chicago’s most talented and respected musicians. His commanding presence isn’t just a result of his animated, thought-provoking lyricism but also his sharp instincts and visionary leadership in the music industry.

In 2004, alongside his “partners in rhyme” Kredible and Phoenix Diego, Sonny founded Tha Black Hand Movement. While their debut LP saw little financial gain, the citywide buzz and attention it generated were invaluable, cementing their influence in Chicago’s underground hip-hop scene.

By 2005, Sonny BLCK took his ambitions further, joining forces with some of the city's most promising emcees to establish the independent label Urban Music Entertainment (UME), where he served as CEO. However, due to internal disputes with the label’s primary investor and Senior VP, Sonny ultimately stepped away from UME, opting to carve his own path.

In March 2007, Sonny organized Chicago Unplugged, a networking event designed to connect artists, provide performance opportunities, and foster support within Chicago’s thriving music scene. Held every Thursday at the now-defunct U.S. Beer Company, the event received widespread acclaim from both artists and publications. Though the event was eventually paused in search of a new venue, Sonny had plans to relaunch it in June 2018.

Between 2008 and 2014, Sonny BLCK underwent a period of artistic evolution. He rebranded his label as Black Sun Music Group, stepping away from Black Hand Movement to build a stronger marketplace for musicians in Chicago. During this time, he put his personal music career on hold to focus on broader industry initiatives. However, driven by a desire to expand beyond hip-hop, Sonny spent two years mastering the guitar and refining his vocal abilities, aiming to blend Rock, Soul, and Blues into his already diverse musical repertoire.

From 2015 to the present, the self-proclaimed "GodMC" has made a triumphant return to the studio. He reunited with IB (formerly Kredible), JR Blac, Phoenix Diego, and J. Paul to form the collective Bl^CK Parliament. The group has been actively working on multiple projects, including IB’s mixtape series, Sonny’s highly anticipated full-length LP Gift of Vision, and a collaborative album—all originally slated for release in 2017 but currently still in production.

With his unwavering dedication to artistry and innovation, Sonny BLCK continues to push boundaries, shaping both his own legacy and the future of Chicago’s music scene.
