Lane 8 - How I Feel

Carlos Sanchez, the young producer/DJ with a string of quality releases over the past few years, drops a four-track EP this March on Poker Flat Recordings.

'Countdown' weaves together the various elements for which Sanchez is fast gaining a strong reputation: deep, groovy tech house that will be driving people to the floor all year long.

The EP kicks off with 'Yesterland' - tight, punchy drums are underpinned by another trademark growling bass-line and a Hemingwayesque vocal narrative. 

'Conclution' - a firing second track built around swingy bass and crisp, driving percussion. Some wonky synths add the kind of late night, off-kilter atmosphere that Sanchez excels at bringing into his tracks (or sets, whatever you like).

'Surrender' journeys further into the deep, with a bouncy, modulating bass-line and a breathless vocal urging us to give in to the vibe. 

'Nu Place' complements perfectly the vitality of the EP - another tightly coiled production that effortlessly toys with tension and release in a way that many older producers would envy.

As with every previous event, we will be holding back the big special guest performer, but rest assured that their profile is equal to all of our past unannounced guests. Past special guests include: Skrillex (first UK show), Chase & Status, Knife Party, Baauer (first UK show), Sub Focus, Skepta & Preditah, Nero, EZ, David Rodigan, Friction, Toddla T, Flosstradamus (first UK show), Noisia, Foreign Beggars, Heartless Crew, Skream & Plan B. The rest of the night will be taken care of by our MTA Records artists on rotation at each event.

Chosen for its small, intimate vibe with a huge Martin Audio sound system, The Nest is a perfect location to see artists in a setting rarely experienced outside the big clubs and festivals.

We proudly welcome NYC&#8217;s Boris to Evolution as he has graced us with one of his finest tracks to date in the form of &#8220;You&#8221;. Warped female vocals are the show-stopper here, the rocksteady rhythm section chugs away effortlessly and huge washes add to the tense vibe. In the distance, haunting synths race against time and intertwine with chaotic reverberations. Paride Saraceni opts for a dubbier approach and employs his rubber-band bass and skipping drums. Looking to his effects box for the extra magic, he creates the trademarked cavernous atmosphere that he is known for.

Superskank's epic "Good Time" gets the Olivier Giacomotto treatment, and even if you've been living under a rock and never heard the original, you will still freak out with this monster.

An almost jacking rhythm section kicks things off, and the juicy bass holds everything tightly together before the anthemic vocal kicks in and reminds us what we're listening to.  Characteristic, sharp stabs are added in order to toughen things up, while the drums grind away effortlessly into good times indeed.
