The start of the new millennium brought change, innovation and an array of technological developments. New names appeared on the international techno scene like never before, and one of the biggest to emerge over the last decade has undoubtedly been Berlin-based techno duo, Pan-Pot. 

2013 marks Pan-Pot’s illustrious 10 year anniversary, and to celebrate, the pair will visit selected clubs as they embark on the X-tour – a series of 10 shows in Europe and abroad from late October through to December. 

From humble beginnings at Berlin’s SAE institute in 2003, Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix joined forces to present their dark and murky take on techno to the world. 10 years later, the pair has established themselves as one of the mainstays on Berlin label mobilee, with countless releases and a constantly heavy touring schedule. 

Pan-Pot are hard-working, determined and endlessly inventive. Over the past 10 years, the pair have developed into DJ superstars, regularly headlining festivals or filling packed stadiums around the word. More often than not, they are playing sold out shows where their unique stage presence shines through and can be felt by each and every member of the crowd. On top of this, Pan-Pot have created their own distinct sound which is prevalent in their DJ sets and is revered by followers and peers worldwide. 

As well as celebrating their 10 years together, Pan-Pot will hit the road to give something back to the fans that continue to support them. The X-tour will see Pan-Pot playing extended sets at 10 selected gigs, each showcasing the entire spectrum of their music from the beginning of their career until today. Starting in Neuss on October 2nd, the tour will see the pair appear in Tel Aviv, Munich, Barcelona, Istanbul, Milan, Rotterdam, Paris and Hamburg with a final stop in Berlin’s Watergate on December 14th. 

In conjunction with the X-tour, a short video has been produced by video artist Hakan Can. Pan-Pot will also release a new two track EP called “The Mirror”, which will be available on mobilee records from October 18th.

This is i guess by far the track i worked the longest on the full EP. There was about 10 versions before i finally decided to programm all my knobs and faders and record it live.
This take was at least the most impulsive & spontanious take of all version before. So i decided to put the live take out instead af all prearranged ones before as i directly felt connected to the flow of this recording. i hope u can feel it :)

When Love Feels Like Crying

Evgeny, urban dweller of Israel's quiet & nice shoreline city Herzliya, was born in ‘82 and migrated to Israel from the Ukraine in 1990, like many others at that time. Already from early youth he discovered electronic music for himself, but growing up as a foreigner & joining the army didn't leave much time to get involved in the music scene.

Only in 2005 he decided to create the www.aero-groove.com project to help & promote the electronic music scene which he liked, featuring DJ's & artists with their music from all around the globe.

Almost in no time the site became very popular due to the high quality music it offered & the support of top names representing the many different electronic music genres it contained.

After managing the site and being head full in music 24/7 towards the end of 2005, Evgeny got infected with the DJ fever & decided to become one as well. Shortly after 2006 had started, Evgeny was already on stage behind the decks in clubs & dance bars around Israel and is now considered to be an uprising star of the electronic music scene in Israel . Recently he has joined Beefrecords as a label DJ & represents it in Israel as well as world wide.

Apart from being a DJ and running the Aero-Groove project Evgeny is the co-founder of the " New Era Management " booking agency, together with his partner DJ Zombi.

A mix based on the British Museum
 
Featuring a mix of 12th century Tibetan monks song, one of the first ever recordings of music, made by Thomas Edison on a wax cylinder in 1888, poetic spoken word, 9th century Gregorian Chant, A call to the lama from afar, some unreleased exclusives, 9/8 techno, traditional Chinese music mixed with rude glitch, and a binaural museum.

The brief for this mix was to make something inspired by an architectural space. When I was doing my Post-Doc at UCL I used to go the British Museum to relax, and work in the beautiful library there, so I chose the space for the mix. I wanted to capture the ambient atmosphere in the central courtyard, so I did some binaural recording to include in the mix. I also wanted to make the mix something of an exploration through history and ideas in line with the contents of the museum, so I brought in lots of disparate music spanning the centuries and continents. I also mixed it in a way to be like a journey though the museum, turning corners and regularly coming across something totally different and unexpected, with each track being like a different exhibit. Hence the name of the mix, in that, each piece of music almost has a visual content.
