What exactly is ‘real house music’? There’s hardly one umbrella term that could cover the breadth of four four, although ask Richard Dinsdale and he’ll likely come back with an answer. Recording as Weiss he’s recently become one of dance music’s newest talents, with Chicago’s distinctive jackin’ house sound among his most notable influences. 

While Chicago might be his main source of inspiration, his London hometown has also significantly shaped his career: he first got into house music in a serious way through visiting clubs like ours regularly through the 2000s, and his early career blossomed through a longstanding relationship with the London imprint Toolroom Records.

Dinsdale has also recently become close to Claude VonStroke and his Dirtybird camp: as well as his recent EP for the label, he’s also played a string of stateside shows for VonStroke’s mammoth imprint. As we prepare to welcome him alongside the boss in Room One on 22nd July, we hit up Dinsdale for a mix ahead of his performance.

Steyoyoke welcomes back the maestro of all things melodic Clawz SG with his 4 track EP ‘Constellations’. Clawz SG adds another impeccably engineered title to his discography full to the brim with energy and ethereal synthscapes.

The title track ‘Constellations’ weds airy soundscapes to a throbbing bass. A deep evolving bass lays the groundwork while glassy synths weave in and out and a resonant staccato introduces an air of tension, perfectly showcasing Clawz’ unique ability to effortlessly merge energy and emotion.

‘Momentum’ is an exercise in all things Clawz SG. Artfully gliding blips and synths enamelled by pads weaving in and out of tune ever so slightly is quintessential Clawz at his best. 

Bright and empyrean, ‘Cosmic’ invokes the feeling of looking up into a clear night sky. Bells, claves and radiant pads intertwine to invoke an auditory sense of the vastness of the universe and the serenity of being a part of it.

‘Twilight’ is a unique track of contrasting emotions. At times purveying comfort and solace through delicately emotive synthwork, the massive bass also invokes a sense of impending calamity.  

With his latest EP, Clawz SG shifts his gaze heavenwards. Epic and colossal at times, gentle and emotive at others, ‘Constellations’ conjures a full palette of the human experience.

It's a (tiny) jubilee and we're gonna celebrate this with the SoKool boys from Berlin. Their label debut 'You Did It EP' is spiced with a little bunch of remixes and pops up as an exquisite music rounding off.

They did it - 'You Did It'. For an unstrained moving original, SoKool turn the knobs into a square and harsh bassline that puts a decent weight on a basic rhythm like kick, clap and unsteady hats. Smartly these forms an extraordinary mood, which tends to eternalness by adding a pensive melody. Remixer one is DkA from Bruxelles who striked recently (in collab. with Igor Vicente) on Mobilee, Get Physical or Hot Creations. Infusing a dragging synthbass and keepin' the melody fluid, makes it generate a highly obsessing tune. On the other hand, the charming Spanish guy FreedomB from Berlin delivers another groove bomb remix, bang!

SoKool's 'Sa Phia' appears gentle for a low-driven journey into a sparkling world of club fairy tales. Brave and daring creatures float for the sake of this beauty in a sound orgy. In turn, Carlo Ruetz takes it on by night: still on the easy trail, he keeps it rollin' in a wide room. A bowl of effects and clap games striping his remix. Surely more than just functional!
