All Across The Floor DJ Mix (2010)

Every time I get a new machine in the studio, it leads me to a new track. After getting my new Ecler 4.0 Dj-mixer, this last Xmas, it felt necessary to spend some time mixing and get more familiar with it. I eventually recorded this mix, live and loud at Karl Marx Boulevard Studios, using mostly vinyl and a few cds. It was Xmas and the end of an amazing intense year (2013), so I took the chance to put all of it together. Even though it is not meant to be "massi's best of 2013 mix", it does feature some of the tracks that have been essential to me over this past year and/or that I have enjoyed playing out. Yet it goes beyond that, in the sense that I have simply been playing all what came to my mind without any boundaries or special concepts behind. As such, it is more about the joy of mixing records. It is also a little present to all of you, my beloved followers out there. I thank you for your wonderful support and wish you all an amazing 2014! Love and see you on the dance-floors!!! M.

Massi Happy New Year Mix (2014)

@XDB, the founder of the Metrolux music label, is one of Germany’s most respected DJs. Kosta Athanassiadis is a long-standing institution as a Dj and Producer with a significant collection of timeless productions and memorable remixes. 

XDB has his roots in the central German town of Göttingen. It was there that he began DJing in the early nineties, where he worked in a record shop and where he ran a radio show for five years. And that was the base from which he established the Metrolux record label back in 2006.

For many people, it was at this point that XDB appeared on their radar. His debut ‘Jackintosh EP’ and the following ‘Descap EP’ made a splash. Kosta’s DJ sets draw upon his expansive record collection, playing right across the board of electronic music. His DJing keeps him in the public eye, but one gets the sense that XDB prefers to operate in the shadows.

@revoltathens was brought to life in 2013 with the purpose to satisfy people’s craving for immersive experiences with electronic music and other forms of art.

In 2014, the crew started a record label and six years later, took a big step forward and opened a hybrid-record shop with new and second-hand records. This space is meant to be used in the most creative yet practical way, to showcase artists and their talent, organize live shows and small exhibitions.

Raised by a drummer, it’s no coincidence that she easily stays in time as she strings together gems from along the genre spectrum. Known and loved as someone who pretty much can’t stop dancing once she starts, it was only a matter of time before she channeled this endurance behind the decks.  Whether sending stargazers into the ether with her ambient selections or getting hearts and bass thumping on the dancefloor with her minimalistic techno sets, Kim brings a bewitching tenderness to her DJ-ing that quickly caught the attention of the Belgian scene.

Virginia wears many different musical hats and always has. The Berlin based woman is a DJ, vocalist, song writer and producer who saw chart success early on in her career, as well as receiving underground acclaim for her album Fierce For The Night back in May 2016. She has written music with the likes of Steve Bug, has played a hybrid live and DJ set all over the world and has ties to labels like Ostgut Ton, Dolly Deluxe and Underground Quality. She has also famously provided vocals to some of Steffi’s most classic vocal tracks such as ‘Yours’, so is very much the voice of contemporary house music. 

Her podcast for us is entitled Greetings From My Garden - Music For The Heart Mix and shows off another side to the artist. It is made up of music more suited to home listening than dancing in the club, and features tracks from Massive Attack, Slam, The Orb, plus a new one of Steffi’s forthcoming album on Ostgut Ton. As such it’s a soothing listen of dreamy synths and comedown sounds, deep grooves and selection emotions that is the perfect soundtrack to the last days of summer.
