In 1989 the Seattle music scene acquired the multi-talented triple threat known as Shomari Shanks.  Shomari (aka DJ Sho Nuph), at the age of 15 quickly immersed himself in the local music community by connecting with the local hip-hop crew Tribal Music in the '90’s.  During this time he developed his craft of Rapping, Dancing, and creating new beats to share with the world.   Shomari then jumped in to the Jungle/ Drum&Bass  Scene in the '00’s and then became a mainstay at various spots around Seattle.  Shomari's passion for beat making and dancing is reflected in his ability to blend R&B, House, Funk, Spacious Trap, Soul, and his original tracks to keep all those bodies moving on the dance floor.
While honing his production skills in 2008 Shomari was diagnosed with Kidney Failure and courageously fought for his life while still following his passion and dreams to create music and art.  In 2011 he joined forces with fellow music creator DJ WD4D to introduce Soulectro.  Soulectro was created to push the boundaries of the Electronic Music Scene by introducing new and forward thinking mixes and original creations.  In 2016, Shomari received a new kidney and used his recovery time to create his EP HOWEVAYAWANT, which was released in July 2018 and available at http://carepackage.bandcamp.com/album/howevayawant .

Tel Cairo’s difference in musical perspective is distinctive. It’s timeless, intuitive and full of emotion. From the soft heart beats and wicked bass licks, to beautiful melodies from the keys accompanied by strong and at times gentle guitar riffs. Their mission “We write music for the soundtrack of life”.
Tel Cairo’s members Cameron Others and 7evin have built a strong relationship with their love, Music.  Taking notes from their personal favorite artists that ranges from Nirvana, Prefuse 73, Portishead and Pearl Jam to DJ Shadow, The Roots, Rass Kass, Bjork and Joy Division. Over the years the duo has experimented with sounds by manipulating instruments in ways no other song writing team has conceived. With that they built a sound bank that breaks the boundaries of music scape.

Thus Tel Cairo was born and since then the two have been on a path to change the ever so duplicated sounds you hear daily on radio, TV and what is now considered to be mainstream music. Taking a page out of everyday life and using that as a muse to compose music; Which is what music has been about from the beginning…right? But what Tel Cairo adds to that history is the sounds from every day things we take for granted. For instance; a heartbeat, they have created a sound for silence, soft and angst melodies expressing the up’s and down’s of life, to Lo-fi tones with intelligent verses of love gained, questioned and lost.

Tel Cairo dedicated four years on their upcoming album “Voice of Reason”, creating and fine tuning their definition of self-expression. The featured artists on the album where handpicked over years of studio sessions. They were more than just fellow artists, they became family. Tel Cairo looks deeper into the minds of a singer and emcee. They pull out the defining features of what the significant artists holds in their soul.
