I'm back after a short pause with an all new Undercurrents episode 45. It's been a crazy busy few months as I was working on launching my new freelance professional voiceover business - 'bonifyVO' - which I hope will be a much better path in the long term than the unstable 9-5 corporate world. 

I have so much great music to share that it was really hard putting this together and choosing just 13 tracks but I'm happy with how it turned out. It's an honour for us to have worked on the first Zero Tolerance Sessions 001.  

Our concept behind the mix was simple - we wanted to pay respects to those who built the foundations of the uncompromising deep and dark ZT sound before us, and who put Melbourne progressive house on the world map. We also wanted to showcase a group of current artists that we feel represents the present and future ZT sound.

Included in this mix are three original records, and four remixes that we have completed that will be coming out on Zero Tolerance later this year, as well as lots of unreleased tracks + re-edits.  If you've followed Zero Tolerance over the years you're in for a rollercoaster ride.

Golden Wings Music celebrates their seventh anniversary with the fifth edition of their popular ‘Unique Series'. Released in 2014, the inaugural edition was not only the label's first ever release but it also set the course for what has been a remarkable seven-year history.

Featured on the first installment was a cross section of the underground's finest progressive music talents including Rich Curtis, Marc Poppcke, Sonic Union, Scotty.A, Ioan Gamboa, Tvardovsky and Nikko.Z.

Golden Wings carefully selects each release to move their vision forward, building a close-knit family of scene veterans, while nurturing new talents such as Fran Serra, Robin Thurston and Rokazer. It's this cohesive blend of artists which has made the label bold, innovative and a standout in their field.

Their quality over quantity philosophy has never wavered, even as our musical times have gotten progressively more congested. The Argentinean imprint has stuck to their core values and now after months of carefully curating new submissions, the label unveils the fifth installment of 'Unique Series' in celebration of their seventh anniversary. Next up in our moments series we are very proud to share an amazing recent LIVE set from our label bosses GMJ & Matter at the Morning After presents: Enchanted Garden Homegrown Edition from April 2021! 

This set saw the boys premiering a number of new tunes alongside many live effects & synths in the moment!

Melbourne’s GMJ (Gavin Martin) and Matter (Matty Doyle) joined forces in late 2015, a triggered recognition and magnetism for their shared perspectives and love for deep atmospheric music leading to the formation of the GMJ & Matter collaboration.
Already drawn by a respect for each others unique sound, their first meeting soon saw them in the studio crafting the acclaimed “Superposition” EP for Proton music, which was debuted at Rainbow Serpent Festival 2016 and released afterwards to big success, supported by industry heavyweights including Hernan Cattaneo and Cid Inc. This was followed by the “Osmosis / 11 moons” EP in 2017, and the “Interscope / To the Stars” EP in 2018 which further highlighted the pair's distinct and accomplished sound.
A natural synergy and seamless understanding has seen works constantly flow, with remixes for Pete K, Andre Sobota, Juan Deminicis, Nopi, Donny Carr, DJ San & Rudy UK, as well as fellow Aussies Funkform, Pantheon and David Leckenby. 2019 raised the bar higher as the duo joined forces with Funkform for a highly anticipated debut EP for the esteemed Balance Music.
Studio success translated into demand from a constantly growing number of respected festivals and clubs both locally and abroad. A debut performance at Dragon Dreaming Festival 2017 was followed soon after with support gigs for Nick Warren and Dezza, leading towards a fully live performance for Wildwood events, then on to their debut European tour in late 2019, with gigs for Progressive Astronaut in London and Replug Records 10 year anniversary at ADE in Amsterdam.
2020 has seen the conception and constant growth of the pairs “Meanwhile Recordings” imprint, which has opened to high regard throughout the industry, both as a platform for their own signature sounds, and as a home to some of the world’s finest. With many amazing artists and releases on the horizon, Meanwhile is already on the way to establishing itself as a premier force in the world of global deep progressive house.
With constant inspiration raising the heights in reflection, the future is to the stars!

Imagine Sasha & John Digweed on safari with Pink Floyd? This is how South African producer Gabriel One sees his merging of electronic and acoustic elements. As a seasoned studio aficionado and synthesizer fanatic, he creates music that evokes euphoria with a sophisticated and entrancing sound.

Gabriel One's debut release titled 'Sirens' featuring Justin Prins was released on Tube and Berger's Zehn Records and blared at number 2 in the electronica releases chart on Beatport, the same platform that called the record "powerful and emotive". Shortly after, 'Sirens' also featured in the Melodic House and Techno Top 100 charts for 7 weeks.

Currently poised for a series of collaborative releases, Gabriel One continues to team up with Justin Prins in anticipation for more distinctly emotive house music records.

The Black Series Three sees Helmut J, one of Cape Town's most active techno artists, displaying a piece of his early work. Helmut J originally produced Geist over five years back and when rediscovered on a dusty old hard-drive, had to be brought to life on Triplefire Music's Black Series.

This is the third in the experimental series of releases which explore the dark and unusual side of the African imprint's artists.
