Target Acquired

Electronic musician and violinist Ryan Parks believes that new technology has made it possible for EDM to provide audiences with the intimate feeling attained when observing a performer’s mastery of an acoustic instrument. In his projects he has been working with Midi controllers like the Ableton Launchpad and the Misa Kitara to dissolve the barrier that has always existed between live musical expression and computer music. 

In pursuit of this goal Ryan obtained an internship May 2013 working for Misa Digital making tutorial videos for the Misa Kitara. His projects have helped to generate public interest in Misa Digital's release of their new product the Misa Tribass. 

Ryan also spends his time composing electronic music. He strives to differentiate himself by incorporating both the acoustic guitar and violin in his pieces. In his work, Ryan focuses his attention on melodic and tonal complexity. 

While in college, Ryan’s participation in SUNY Oneonta’s Experimental Music Group caused him to question what he defined as music. The experience taught him that any imaginable sound source could be an instrument. While some sound sources, like a computer’s hard drive, may not be as practical to perform as others, Ableton Live has allowed him to capture and play with many unusual sounds in his creative work.

Ryan is currently living in NYC where he is pursuing an opportunity with SiriusXM as an intern on the Covino and Rich talk show.
