With HNH 009, we’re extra excited to announce a whomper of an EP from man like Sankuh, co-founder of Mode FM radio & MFR records and the creator of some uniquely warped and weird house. For those who don’t know, MFR are one of the scene’s leading labels, breaking some of the biggest artists and releasing some of the biggest bangers. Sankuh’s connection with house goes back long before the current deep tech wave, and like many Londoner’s his age he grew up listening to drum & bass, grime and dubstep. Compared to some, the grimey elements in his music are restrained and reined in. Not relying on big bate samples, the UK elements ooze out through the cracks in the tech house template:  the sub bass pressure, the garage swing to the drums, the screwface vibez. Title track House Train is the anthem, with its catchy ‘house train’ chant, it’s bulky bassline that staggers and lurches while it pushes the track forwards, and it’s dense matrix of drums, yelps and percussive tics creating a sort of rhythmic psychedelia. Next track ‘6:15’ is dark, stripped back number aimed squarely at the hardcore ravers out past first train. We could talk about it’s giant gloopy bassline, or its fluttering rhythm section, but really what can we say that the sample doesn’t? “6:15 in the morning - I’m drunk and I’m high”. On final track Be Mine ft. Will Marshall, with its catchy cut-up garage vocals, its extra-chunky bass groove and its cowbell workout, we get a prime-cut of UK tech house. This house train is a non-stop service to #shutdown station and is boarding now. Don’t miss it!

HNH009はMFR Records、そしてMode FM Radioの共同創設者であるSankuhの出番。ラジオやレーベル活動はもちろんのこと、クオリティの高い、イノベーション豊なトラックメーカーとして広く知られている。
MFRはDeep TechやHouse & Bassにおいて有力なレーベルであり、得にDeep Techの今までの発展を助けたリリース・アーティストを多く出している。
Sankuh自身はDeep Techが流行るずっと前からDrum & Bass, GrimeやDubstepを聞いて育った生粋のロンドンっ子。
一聴ではMFRの以前のリリースに比べてもTech Houseに近い、若干控えめなスタイルともいえるが、耳を澄まして聴けばサブ・ベースやスイングをかけたGarage風ドラムなどからすると、これもUKハードコアカルチャの沿線上に生まれたサウンドとしか捉えようがない。
タイトルトラックHouse Trainはアンセム感が半端ではない。深夜特急のように停車すること無くつねに前進する。すぐはまってしまう「House Train」の詠唱とサイケ調のドラムでダンサーは喜びのあまりに我を忘れる。
太い、濃厚なベースラインにひらひらとはためくハイハットを中心とする6:15はEPのもっともダークかつ最先端な曲。軽く一杯飲んで帰ろうと思っていたやつでもこれを聞くと終電を逃して朝まで躍らざるを得ない。「朝6:15で、俺は最高に酔っているし、ラリっている」というサンプルは、バッチリ。
がっちりしたベースラインにGarage風にチョップしたヴォーカルやファンキーなCowbellで成り立つBe MineはWill Marshallとコラボして作ったピュアなUK系Tech House。
この列車はUKハウス天国行き。間も無く発車！乗って来な！

6:15 [Snippet]

The second EP to drop from Morganic music comes from the highly talented, extremely creative duo Harry Ley and Limitless. EP entiltled ‘Blow Up’ comes with two mighty tracks both packed with forceful beats and high energy throughout, these tracks are not ones to be missed on the dance floor. 

The release shows the pair at there finest and proves why their music is vastly becoming the forefront of Underground House Music.

The boys are putting serious work in forcing their innovative sound to spread throughout the UK at a rapid pace. Individually they both come with strong sounds and entrancing ideas but combined they bring twice the power and double the damage insuring a blow up. Literally.
