Inspired by the Ukrainian singer Ruslana, I tried to make a synth bases rock song with a cool beat.

The "October Challenge" of the FB Composer Challenge Club required us composers to create a theme music for the legendary Star Wars character "Luke Skywalker”.  With the history of this Jedi Knight that the Star Wars franchise has been established throughout the last 41 years, John Williams’ masterpiece score has profoundly registered in every Star Wars fans’ mind.  It is a very tough one for someone who is only a step above the novice level of music composing.  It is frightening for me to even try to remotely matching up the master level of John William’s theme.

Since the criteria of the challenge is quite open to any particular stage of Skywalker’s life, I’ve selected mine to depict the earlier to mid stage of his struggle of being a Jedi and a vital member in the Rebellion against the Empire.  From the day that he was born and adopted by his maternal uncle and aunt, to the day that he first saw the projected message of Leia from R2, then rescuing her from captivity; joining and fighting along side the Rebel fleet that brought destruction to the first Death Star, and finally facing off the inevitable duel with his father, Darth Vader.  There is a lot to be covered within 4 minutes…

I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I was 9 years old and I’ve always loved the first 3 movies and their music scores.  Therefore I adhered my style of this composition to John William’s orchestral form.  I wish that I have had more time to refine my composition and as well have the luxury to upgrade my composing arsenal with higher quality orchestral VST packages.  Nevertheless, this is what I can mustered as my submission to this month’s remarkable challenge.
