My first Christmas song! This was originally intended to be just a series of improvisations on Prokofiev's Troika ( Sleigh Ride ) but then I got the idea of bringing in a space theme. So I started thinking about the Apollo 11 moon landing and worked this in. I’m not quite sure how, but Neil Armstrong has ended up providing the main vocal hook - hence the extra title in brackets! There’s a hint of Also Sprach Zarathustra by Richard Strauss about the brass section. I added the actual Strauss motif in the fade out just because….well, it’s meant to be a jolly festive song so why not?It was a whole heap of fun adding all the effects and touches to create that spacey and festive vibe. I hope you enjoy it and, obviously, have a wonderful Christmas!

"Sweet Old School Rock N' Roll" tells the story of a 14 year old kid who buys his first electric guitar at a second hand store and practices playing it in his parents' tool shed outback until his fingers bleed literally. He plays his guitar with lots of gusto and energy at high school dances and impresses the good looking girls. The preacher man in school warns him that Rock N' Roll, electric guitars and drums are evil. Nonetheless, he decides to sell his soul for Rock N' Roll to the devil who is female of course, but has no regrets making this his true calling in life.
