Everyone needs a new beginning at some point.  A reset.  Tabula rasa, a clean slate.

After years of songwriting, touring, and recording together, brothers Jimmy and Mike Atkins, along with band mates Jake Bigelow, John Kiser and Josh Lanier, realized this truth would inevitably change their music, their lives, and the scope of their ministry.

Formerly known as Elishah, the band has adopted a new moniker, a name that hints at the band's vision and accessibility.  This new name is Second Hand City.

Inspired by an urgency to unite the Body of Christ and to build His kingdom through music, Second Hand City wraps their passion for melodies, lyrics and sonic textures around honest life experiences.  This provides the framework for their upcoming eponymous album, “Second Hand City.”

Working with producer Danny Stephens (Smalltown Poets, The BigStuf Band, Pop Scripture Songs) and longtime friend and engineer, Ricky Rodriguez, the band has set foot in a new direction that is already striking a chord with longtime fans and newfound friends alike.  Drawing from years of ministry and road life, the guys paint hope-laden word pictures within the tension between joy and sorrow, life and death in an honest way that sings, “Hey, war. You're the beginning of my peace," (a lyric from their upcoming release).

With anticipation and vision, Second Hand City begins this new chapter in an ongoing adventure of mission, music, and ministry. After all, new beginnings are what the Gospel is all about.
