South Birmingham’s Van Rockman released their debut album ‘The Lost Tapes’ a couple of years ago which was an album that took 42 years to come to light after frontman, Tim Fisher found the original demo tape in his mother’s attic whilst helping her to move. 

With the discovery of this tape, Tim pulled the original members back together so they could finally record the album and release it.

All the tracks on that album were written between 1969 and 1974 and they were spotted at a gig on Curzon Street in Birmingham by EMI Records who took the band’s demo tape that night, with a view to signing them.

The band actually went along to EMI H.Q and were told: "We know who you are but the A&R guys haven't sent the tape...”.

These were the days when time, effort and expense meant re-recording the demo was too daunting a task for a fledgling rock band and Van Rockman’s chance was gone.

Back in 1991, The Honeybus toured the UK extensively with Tim Fisher (from Van Rockman) on bass and vocals. As a part of the touring band, they became very close with and played many dates together.

The Honeybus had many hits - one of their biggest was 'I Can't Let Maggie Go’ which was Top 10 in 1968.

Back in the day, Van Rockman supported Spencer Davies, The Troggs and had the pleasure of meeting Mick Jagger whilst at Wembley.

(Morning Dew was written by Bonnie Dobson and has been covered by a plethora of bands and artists from the Grateful Dead, Jeff Beck, Nazareth, Clannad and Robert Plant).

StoneWire - FTM - out now - from the forthcoming new album "Life as We Know It" which follows in November.

StoneWire have crafted a sound that is both unique and yet reassuringly familiar. With influences spreading across many genres the blend of Rock, Blues, Country and Heavy Metal produce something that has been described as classic British Rock with a dirty Southern twist.

They switch seamlessly from riff-laden rock to melodic anthems, underpinning it all with dynamic rhythms and exceptional vocals. This versatility has led critics to compare StoneWire to contemporaries such as Black Stone Cherry, The Answer and more recently the Blues Pills.

Sky Hunter's soaring rock vocals and gravely blues tones are integral to the StoneWire sound. This powerhouse of a front woman delivers an electrifying live performance and clearly shares a true connection with the audience.

But StoneWire are not all about the front (wo)man. The emphasis is firmly on the word band, setting them apart from other female fronted groups.

The bands core is centred on a mix of voice, music and an ever energetic, ever powerful, live performance. This is reflected in the loyalty of their growing fan base who are not mistaken when they say the band just have so much fun on stage.

A self-titled debut EP was released, and the band reached new heights in 2013 supporting Michael Schenker on the Swedish leg of his Temple of Rock / Lovedrive Reunion tour.

In December 2014 StoneWire released their eagerly awaited debut album ‘When The Crow Flies’ on 22:11 Records to great critical acclaim. The album was produced by drummer Rob Glasner and mixed by Voodoo Six’s bassist Tony Newton. Also on board for the production was The Almighty/ex-Alice Cooper guitarist Pete Friesen who provided additional guitar throughout.

Such is the strength of the album that almost every song has been gaining radio airtime up and down the country including on stations such as Nicky Horne’s The Classic Rock Magazine Show on TeamRock Radio, Kerrang! Radio, XFM Rock Show and on various regional and internet radio shows.

Since then StoneWire have played shows at many prestigious venues across the UK and in Europe and saw them support Swiss Rockers Gotthard, guitar legend Bernie Marsden and just recently the Nashville country-fuzz sensation The Cadillac Three.

The band have played some great festivals over the years and were billed alongside Black Star Riders and King King to name but a few.

June 2018 saw them play a storming set at the O2 Arena in London for Stone Free Festival with headliners The Scorpions & YES and after a successful HRH debut at last years HRH BLUES, StoneWire returned to Sheffield to play the main stage at HRH CROWS

Sky says the idea for FTM started after a gig. “I came from a Black Stone Cherry gig at Shepherds Bush and we were all in a rocking mood. As we got to the tube station I saw a homeless man sitting there with his son. The boy was not older than 12 years old. I was so shocked to see a child on the streets, I couldn’t get the image out of my mind. As I was thinking about what is happening in the country (and the world really) over 4 million children living in poverty, people having to use foodbanks despite having jobs, it struck me that we are in deep crisis and many are only one pay check away from having a real problem".
