A meeting of minds, muscles, and music: we're pleased to put on an absolutely no-nonsense lineup of serious techno-heads. Coming up on midwestern musical sensibilities,  we have two serious students of the history and politic of dance music, enthusiasts of gritty machine-funk, hands-on gear-turners in their respective scenes, and good friends of many years. It's a pleasure to present a longer form exploration of techno's transistor rhythm and semiconductor soul from these two: Detroit's Miguel Cisne and Bounce House resident Nail Salon. 

Miguel is dedicated to the craft, technology, lifestyle, and working culture of techno. Living, working, and playing in Detroit, he is involved in all facets of the groundwork of techno, from heady, serious, DJing to event production. He is out and about working sound in Detroit, notably recently helping speaker designer and workshop Bing Audio deploy the pristine, powerful, point-source stacks at events like Return To The Source. Part of the Moods collective, Miguel has a mind for the expansive sensibilities beyond any given selector's dancefloor lay-ups. Never afraid to roll up a Carhartt-clad sleeve and get involved, we've even had Miggy hop onto our lighting controller during a foggy moment years ago. It's a pleasure to welcome the musical school of Detroit!

You know Nail Salon by now to keep this note brief, but we're excited to have a longer window for Kris to work his magic. Hungry for a wide range of music, constantly exploring, studying, and learning, Nail Salon's DJ flow is informed by a heady focus, sincere dedication to the craft, and frothing up many of Philly's rambunctious dancefloors both solo and as part of bellicose trio Bass Down Low, including a recent Halloween-adjacent appearance at burgeoning pop-up party High Beam.

After a number of years of doing radio, I am enjoying it more than ever before!  And with this, I feel Free Association shows are the best they have ever been, with the range of guests I have had onboard so far in 2025 being truly world-class!

Living up to this standard, I sat down with Dar Disku back in February to talk about their recent month-long residency at NTs Loft, their self-titled LP and forthcoming live plans for this year.  I wanted to drop this one just before their first headline live show in London at @themothclub this Friday, so grab a last minute ticket for that if you haven’t got one.
