This is a recording made in 2020 of the fallow deer 'lek'. This happens around in the second half of October in the UK. The males tend to congregate in in small groups or mating territories where they exhibit lekking behaviours such as sticking to particular 'stands' where they will repeating grunt and bellow.

The recording was made with a pair of DPA 4060s into a Mixpre6ii.

Dawn Chorus with Woodpecker Guilden Morden

This recording captures life at the heart of an urban beehive on a rooftop garden in the 20th district of Paris. The colony is estimated to be between 60,000-80,000 bees at this time of year. I attached two small omni lav mics to a metal coat hanger and dropped this into the centre of the hive, then closed the lid of the hive and left the recorder running. 

A big thank you to beekeeper Marta Bonati for allowing me access to her hives and for taking the time to help me record.

Life In An Urban Beehive - Paris, France

Dawn on 1st May, recorded on a small wetland by my cabin in the Black River Valley, Sweden. Mix of wetland and forest birds.

Recorded in the Black River Valley in south east Sweden.  A soundscape of birds at evening time.  Sedge Warblers, a 'booming' Bittern, 'drumming' Snipe and a pair of Whooper Swans fly overhead.  Recorded with a dummy-head, so it's best to listen back via headphones.  Dense forest on the far side of the river reflects the sound of the swans flying overhead - providing an echo on the near left hand side.
