(E)Paul Maudit was an anti-hero of the first years of the 21st century of the suburbs of the Third World ... He was a neo-anarchist worker and a musician who made his own songs on homemade recordings (in this case he had recorded this demo with the primitive and cheap camera of your computer ... hence the bad sound). He never succeeded in his home country (Argentina). And having emigrated to Spain, he did not achieve any success either. He was poor like rats (not like that in spirit) ... but he never lacked bread to eat ... In his songs are traces of the style of those years called "Anti-Folk" (Adam Green - Kimya Dawson - The Moldy Peaches - Jeffrey Lewis). His songs speak of a dark romanticism, broken or distant loves, being the assistant of a father electrician and other subjects worthy of an insane asylum. Some people claimed to see him become an ascetic in the middle of the mountains of Malaga or Rimbaud lost in the heart of Africa ...

Era un trabajador neo-anarquista y un músico que hacía sus propias canciones en grabaciones caseras (en éste caso él había grabado ésta demo con la primitiva y barata cámara de su computadora... de ahí el mal sonido). Nunca tuvo éxito en su país de origen (Argentina). Y habiendo emigrado a España tampoco obtuvo ningún éxito. Él fue pobre como las ratas (no así de espíritu)... pero nunca le faltó el pan para comer... En sus canciones se encuentran rastros del estilo de aquellos años llamado "Anti-Folk" (Adam Green - Kimya Dawson - The Moldy Peaches - Jeffrey Lewis). Sus canciones hablan de un oscuro romanticismo, amores rotos o lejanos, ser el ayudante de un padre electricista y otros temas dignos de un manicomio. Algunas personas aseguraron verlo convertido en un asceta en el medio de los montes de Málaga o como Rimbaud perdido en el corazón del África...

(S)La historia de "Karate Slam" se remonta hasta los años 90's del pasado siglo XX. El bautizo del alias fue compuesto por Pablo Krantz y Titán Aguer cuando ellos había sumado a las filas del grupo "El Pesa-nervios" a Pablo Darío Martín para reemplazar a Pablo Carreras para tocar el bajo eléctrico. Lo de "Karate Slam" es una mezcla del personaje "Karate Kid" (qué también había protagonizado "Crossroads") y del personaje de la película "Wild At Heart" ("Sailor" que tenía un estilo de Karate para bailar y cantaba a lo Elvis). Bajo el alias de "Karate Slam", van a hallar muchísimas grabaciones, entre el Pop y lo Experimental, ahora él (Pablo Darío Martín) sigue vivo bajo el alias de PDMF (Pablo Darío Martín Fontana).

(E)The history of "Karate Slam" goes back to the 90's of the last 20th century. The baptism of the alias was composed by Pablo Krantz and Titán Aguer when they had added Pablo Darío Martín to the ranks of the group "El Pesa-nervios" to replace Pablo Carreras to play the electric bass. The "Karate Slam" thing is a mixture of the character "Karate Kid" (who had also starred in "Crossroads") and the character from the movie "Wild At Heart" ("Sailor" who had a Karate style to dance and sang to lo Elvis). Under the alias "Karate Slam", you will find many recordings, between Pop and Experimental, now he (Pablo Darío Martín) is still alive under the alias PDMF (Pablo Darío Martín Fontana).

Spleen Overseas is a Franco-Canadian alternative rock project at the crossroads of lo-fi, intimacy, and poetry. Founded in March 2019, the duo consists of Mathieu (aka Matiou) – bassist, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist – and Mireille Lévis, lyricist, singer, and visual artist.
Rooted in the DIY spirit, their sound is built on raw textures, captivating atmospheres, and deeply evocative lyrics. The band draws influence from The Velvet Underground, Joy Division, David Bowie, and Iggy Pop, creating a minimalistic yet emotionally charged aesthetic.
The name Spleen Overseas reflects both their geographical reality – between Canada and France – and their artistic universe. The word spleen, borrowed from Baudelaire, evokes a poetic world of melancholy, beauty, and inner storms.
Mireille Lévis contributes a cinematic lyricism to Mathieu’s music, blending vulnerability and intensity. Their sound sometimes draws comparisons to artists like Cocteau Twins and Portishead, existing in a soundscape where the lyrics take center stage.
