TrackFor the last 10 years I’ve been releasing this project exploring music that evokes spirituality and a connection to nature. Spiritual music that isn’t necessarily religious in nature and also has a wide musical lens, beyond spiritual jazz for example.

Spring in my hometown of Montreal always arrives at least 4 weeks later than almost anywhere in the world. And because of our long grueling winters, when springtime arrives in the city you can feel the effect on everyone’s collective mood. There’s a certain indescribable electricity in the air.

This project is dedicated to my mom.
Dedicated to all of us who have survived the storms.

A 5.5 hours live DJ set, traveling through Africa and its diaspora, with Amapiano, Afrobeats, R&B, Future Beats, Jazz, Soul, instrumental hip hop, mellow afro-house, and so much more.

Shout out Juls Baby, Joe Kay and Soulection, Manalang, S!rene, Flwr Chyld, Jarreau Vandal, Full crate, Cutso and November Rose - You guys inspire the way I play and what I play. 

This set was part of "The sofa sessions", where the DJ sits on the big sofa at the center of the restaurant - this was so much fun, and an opportunity to be closer to my audience.

I used to change songs every 4-5 minutes, but even in this chillout session, I still change songs every 3 minutes or so, which means there are over 120 wonderful songs in this journey.

The venue is Bambu Hut, which is a picturesque resort with simple bungalows in the jungle, on the rocks between two breath-taking white-sand tropical beaches. We took the boat to get there through not-small waves and arrived safely due to the skilled Burmese skippers.

Microcosmos Records is proud to present Far North by Jule Grasz (Germany).

Jule has been in love with music since her early childhood days. In the mid-90s, she started composing pop, rock, and acoustic songs, and in 2006 Jule discovered the world of electronic music. In 2008, she released her first chillout album on Blue Pie Records (Australia), which was followed by another album in cooperation with Mikle Maaß & Hanz S., as well as several techno house/techno tracks on various record labels. In 2012, Jule released her first ambient album, Earth Feelings, on Beats & Pieces Records (Israel). It was well received and reached #34 in the Beatport-Genre-Album Charts.

The music by Jule Grasz is emotional and full of elegant melodies. The tracks radiate joy and happiness, and the gripping musical dramaturgy immerses the listener into magical realms.

The album Far North evokes magnificent pictures of Northern nature through masterfully designed soundscapes. The tracks waft the fresh air of the frozen wild beauty of the North, represent majestic fjords, huge snowdrifts, and ice-cold rivers that shimmer in the flickering of the Northern Lights. The synth samples are finely balanced, the musical modes are emotionally diverse, the tracks are imbued with vivid ambient pads. The beautiful melodies elaborate smoothly through the album together with the growing bass lines, carrying you away into the realm of joy and freedom.

	Ryukyu Underground is Keith Gordon and Jon Taylor. The two met in Okinawa Japan in the fall of 1998, both shared an interest in Okinawan music, contemporary dance music and an occasional night on the town. Strangely, on their first meeting both told each other of a vision they each had individually had, to create a musical project which incorporated elements of the Okinawan sound into contemporary electronic and dance music.

Ryukyu Underground is the result: a combination of traditional melodies and textures of Okinawan music mixed with elements of ambient, drum'n'bass, hip-hop, jungle, dub, and electronica. The result is a musical champuru - the Okinawan word for mixture, so important in the culture and society of contemporary Okinawa - but a champuru with a decidedly modern sound and a club sensibility. They signed to Tokyo based Respect Records and released their debut CD in the Spring of 2002.

In the following years they have released 3 more studio albums and a remix album with remixes of their tracks by such artists as Karsh Kale, Junkie XL, Da Lata and Kid Loco. They also contributed a track to the ‘Rough Guide to Okinawa” compilation CD released through World Music Network and have appeared on three Buddha Bar compilations They have remixed tracks for Miyazawa, Karsh Kale, Yuri Chika and Uru amongst others, . They have also composed music for a series of educational DVDs.
