Back in 1993 Strictly Rhythm released a record called ‘South Street Player – (Who?) Keeps Changing Your Mind‘. It was a song produced and performed by Roland Clarke, who you also might know from ‘ Armand van Helden’s Flowers‘.

Soon it became quite a big club hit here in The Netherlands. We both loved the record so we decided to license it for our Fresh Fruit Label. For our release we made 2 remixes: Fresh Fruit Deep and Fresh Fruit Dub. Both didn’t have much vocals in it, not because we didn’t like them, but because back then we just didn’t have the equipment to include the full vocals. In those early days our ’studio’ was very basic!

Now, 17 years later, we made a vocal edit of our Fresh Fruit Dub, so you can finally hear it how it was ment to be.

‘Missing You’ is back for 2014 with a brace of new mixes and set for release on both digital and physical formats over the coming weeks.



Originally released to widespread acclaim in May last year, the sun-blissed grooves and melodies of ‘Missing You’ are back for 2014 with a brace of new mixes and set for release on both digital and vinyl formats over the coming weeks.



On the A-side of this new package is something rather special. Extra Dry originally approached Frankie Knuckles and Eric Kupper to produce a Director’s Cut remix on this record early in 2014. In his own words Eric Kupper explains how the mix came about…



“I have been regularly playing the original version of this amazingly beautiful record since I first received it last year and I was originally scheduled to do this mix with my musical partner-in-crime, Frankie Knuckles. After his untimely passing, I still really wanted to remix this record – in the Director’s Cut style we had carefully honed over the years – with his guidance from above. “And I’m Still Missing Him”…forever. I love you Frankie” – ERIC KUPPER (JUNE 2014)

 

It is with real honor and respect that we present Eric Kupper’s ‘Director’s Cut Tribute To FK’ Mix on this release.

Leading up the B-side are Nineteen96. Fresh from a recent release on Strictly Rhythm, the Nineteen96 boys deliver a mix that take ‘Missing You’ in a really fresh direction. The digital package is completed by the two mixes from Artful and Ridney themselves while the vinyl release feature the exclusive ‘Vinyl-a-pella’.



This release on ‘Missing You’  will be available exclusively on Traxsource from Monday 21st July with a full digital release following on Monday 18th August. Limited edition red 12” vinyl will be available in September. This release has been put together by Extra Dry in collaboration with SoSure Music.
