After years spent working tirelessly behind the scenes at labels, distributors, promoters, radio stations, and warming up top clubs, last year saw Disruptive Pattern Material take a step out of the shadows and into his own. The New York born, Michigan raised artist’s stints in Brooklyn and Detroit can be heard in his effortless mixing of American house and techno from past, present, and even the future. As a producer and remixer on the rise his music has been featured by DJ Mag, Blow Up Magazine, BBC Radio 1 and more while top-tier DJs such as Ben Sims, Len Faki, and Eats Everything support his music regularly. 

2021 saw the release of Disruptive Pattern Material's debut EP "Necessary" on Radio Slave’s internationally acclaimed label Rekids with supporting remixes from friends, idols, and mentors Terrence Parker, DJ Bone, and Scan 7. This first outing was quickly followed with Disruptive Pattern Material remixes of Marco Faraone and 2022 saw remixes for labels such as Uncage, Seclusion, and Fat Cat and more as well as the “Foundation” EP for Uncage featuring Detroit hi-tech jazz meets techno heavyweights De’Sean Jones and Jon Dixon. This year the focus is on remixes with four already confirmed for release in 2023.

Next one for our OYE Podcast series is Jonas Xenon, DJ and Producer based in Berlin, Germany. 

Jonas delivers a wonderful summery, hypnotic deep techno mix, which flows along... easily and with a positive mood, but still with a pounding beat. A nice compilation of tracks, perfect for a summer open air. 

As a DJ with a drum and bass background you can still hear and feel the closeness to his roots. Driving techno with the little pinch of oldschool aesthetic fused together into a refreshing whole.

Outkarner is a DJ and a beginner producer. One of her tracks has been featured on the well-known Hor Berlin radio. In her work, she focuses on different styles of techno. It can be serious, or morning hypnotising techno, with beautiful melodies and grooves.

This mix is a two-hour session full of tracks from some of her favourite producers, with many fascinating rhythms within them.

Just lose my Mind

"Warehouse" has become a real buzz word again in recent years. To me though, it’s just like saying "good" or "real" when describing techno/house etc. A warehouse is the natural habitat for electronic dance music to be played, just like a field is where you play football. I don’t change what I play too much according to the space, a good track will sound good anywhere. That said, I did pick out some tracks that are naturally more wide or cavernous, or which I instantly associate with warehouse spaces. This mix is like a condensed version of what you'd hear me play at one, or at any party with the right vibe."

Sunil Sharpe is a shining light in the resurgence of underground techno. Gaining an enviable reputation for his dj sets in the early '00s, Sunil soon received an invitation to play at Berlin's Tresor Club in 2001, marking the start of an intensive involvement in the techno scene. Whilst being a uniquely talented dj (and longtime dj tutor at a third­level college), Sunil also produces various strains of techno that have appeared on labels symbolic of the genre's rougher edge: Black Sun Records, Komisch, Inner Surface, Trensmat, Violet Poison and most notably Blawan & Pariah's Sheworks.

Sunil's gig schedule has increased considerably in the last few years, playing at clubs like Berghain (Berlin), The Hydra (London), Concrete (Paris), Sub Club (Glasgow) and dotting off many other countries along the way. He was also dj of choice on both Karenn European tours, the last of which was marked by his now classic Boiler Room set in London.
Sunil has also (alongside EE:V:002 producer DeFeKT) been responsible for exciting new studio project 'Tinfoil', that has quickly found favour with djs of many persuasions.

Parisian based DJ and producer and resident of Blocaus in Paris, Anetha has quickly become a prominent figure in the Paris underground music scene. 

Oscillating between acid lines, melancholic melodies, hypnotic patterns and strong grooves, Anetha also likes to mix her sets with a sprinkling of 90’s tracks offering a deep and pulsating journey. 

Production wise, Anetha made her debut on November 2015 with an excellent EP on Spencer Parker’s imprint Work Them Records. Also, released on June 2016 a track called Tomorrow’s DNA on Reclaim Your City on the Paris – Berlin 2.0 EP alongside Francois X, I/Y and Abayomi. 

In October 2016, Anetha and the Blocaus crew presented their new imprint ‘Blocaus Series.’

Recently Anetha signed her first track to Clone Records’ affiliated imprint Anagram "Acid Train" alongside Sinfol, Elad Magdasi and Dävide.

Our special 100th podcast of the series is mixed by VEGIM (KOS).

Vegim's journey into the underground began in the early 1990's . At first, the music was just a hobby. Once he began collecting records his obsession grew stronger and he invested in his first pieces of music equipment. 1998 was the year Vegim became a full time slave to the underground . He rapidly developed his skills as a DJ and in his Production.
By the age of 18 Vegim had already discovered his lust for House & Techno. The desire to tell his story through music took over and Vegim has never looked back. 
Vegim's earliest experiments in the studio go back to around 2002. After about 4 years of hard work, he released his first EP - Creature 3000 with Nani Killa, this is his first tune which went on to receive support from a lot known world DJs.
Today, Vegim is recognized as one of Techno's most influential artists. Not only a skilled DJ/Producer but also a graphics designer and coneptionalist that has a style unlike any other. He has released his own tracks and done countless remixes for many of the best known labels in the Techno realm. In addition to being a high demand producer, his live performance is one of the most unique in Techno. His sound and mixing ability combined tell a story that is one of a kind. Vegim has traveled a long road since he began and he is now recognized as a symbol of techno worldwide.
