Lockdown is the first track of the album and it’s actually the second track I recorded. It was the most difficult. I had the help of my bro @luis_teixeira8 to record it. This track took me 3 days and 20 version or more to have it right 😆

This track it’s called Lockdowm. Why? Pretty easy… cause it was made during the last Covid lockdown ☺️

Gear ? All the album “1990” was made with only one machine the MC-303 🎹

Recording ? As you know I’m in love with old synth and not really fan of computer. It’s been quite a long time that I don’t work or use any Daw to make music. It’s why I love so much this #dawless 🎹

Even if I produce my music with no computer and no daw at the end all my track where sent to a studio. This studio will make the mix, the compressions and all the stuff I don’t understand 😆 

So I’m not anti daw or anti computer but I prefer to work on my gears I find it more efficient. It’s more creative you feel the music by touching each knobs 🎛

Ali Schwarz's connection to Frankfurt - in the ROBERT JOHNSON case, Offenbach - goes way back. As TIEFSCHWARZ, Ali and his brother Basti were resident DJs at the infamous club and played there many, many times. They also released a fabulous remix on Ata's PLAYHOUSE imprint for Brit-E-Funksters SPEKTRUM back then. So we guess you can imagine how happy we are to have Ali on board the »MS Live At Robert Johnson« with his debut as a proper solo artist.

And yes, we're happy because the first track here is a collaboration with some other former Playhouse artists: Stuttgart's dynamic duo REWORK, consisting of Daniel Varga and Michel Kübler, are featured on »Take Me Out« - a HI-NRG disco smasher par excellence which features crazy synths lines, mighty claps, a heavy bass drum and a beautiful female vocal - all typical Rework ingredients. This tune takes off like a rocket and lifts you up at the drop of a hat. What a way to start!

»Red Dog« is Ali's solo turn again - and Ali really lets the dog out in here right from the start with another mighty bass drum, a captivating synth bass line and a lovely cow bell topping. By the time the haunting dreamy synth melody enters your mind you'll already find yourself shaking your bones. Bow-wow-wow, yippie-yo, yippie-yay!

»Ectasy«'s overall mood is set in a slightly more darker territory. To be precise: A more minimal and technoid territory. It's reminiscent of some of the sounds that once came out of Richie Hawtin's lab: Hard riding and deep grooves to lose yourself. It's quite refreshing to hear a trippy tune like that on our label and we definitely feel it. 

So the question is: Can you feel it?

Like a kind of transcendental whiplash, the past leans in to furnish the present with a set of concrete forms and withering terms, whilst the halo of possibility on the crown of the moment makes speculation a speed-test for computing what comes next. As a vessel for abstract dynamics, the human organism knows what it is to be dizzy, to feel vertigo as a matter of being contained by our experience of space and time.

For the fourth instalment in Tresor's 'Kern' mix series, DJ Stingray presents a device for decoding time in all directions, a sonic prism that refracts our senses into auxiliary components of a total future-rush.

With a far-reaching selection that has been worked into his own unique form, DJ Stingray wraps our vertigo around a gritty pneumatic bump with high-velocity swing. His mixing style, prepared for hostile engagements as it is, throttles techno into counter-gravity forces. Wading through a specialised cross-section of Detroit's own dance-floor contagions as well as the contaminated feedback signals from across the global aqua plains, the mix can be summed up in just one word: hectic.

Raw, caustic, synthetic rhythm-code pumps frenzy itself through a cascading geothermal fog. Never giving away the cryptographic keys, DJ Stingray works you harder than your heart, adapting your biology to a fractal timeline of viscous systems.

Discovery, or uncovering, has to do with what already exists actually or virtually; it is therefore certain to happen sooner or later with enough sweat in the club. And as Kern Volume 4 attests to, DJ Stingray has the access codes and the stealth sense to make a place of a space, and to let it fall into time.

Accompanying the mix is a set of two records. The leading manoeuvre comes from the collaborative efforts of DJ Stingray and Heinrich Mueller under the name NRSB-11. Seven more pieces of the covert assault make up the release.
