Bi Män is an audiovisual intervention artist and does postfemale* crossover.

She* wants to break up clichés by exaggerating stereotypical images. Classifying them* doesn't work, because the circuits of their creation are as inexplicable and wildly raging around as the beats and samples when they are played.

Lovely, sweet and lo-fi no one needs more: Their sound is harsh, relentless, honest and brutal - it is the blasting of socially defined horizons and directly and honestly slams the lack of musical imagination into the ear canals.

Bi Män as DJ* is an uneasy exposure of gender-specific addresses and stands up against the depoliticization of supposedly democratic societies.

She* does not want to imitate the impotent howling of aggression in a hostile world, but rather to create and redesign the matrix of music, parties and politics herself.

This EP by Matt Altman was inspired by the infamous Japanese found footage horror movie (Koji Shiraishi) and sets an uneasy rhythm with a keening but grooved out first track "November 12, 2002".
  
Without pause "Junko's Possession" starts steady but the eeriness returns with haunting drones peering through the mist of a relentless synth line and crisp beats.

Altman takes care to maintain his timbral thread with "Kana's Vessel" which shifts into a breathless pace bearing a hypnotic melody.  This swirling pace continues through "Kobayashi's Search For The Truth" as percussion hits the listener from all angles. 

The mystery deepens with "Shimokage's Curse" which is peppered with hi-hats and infected with a bleep that begins sweetly but swerves into a more sinister attack with "The Curse That Ends In Flames".

It all ends with "The Wrath Of Kagutaba", here muffled rhythmic shrieks counterpoint a subdued beep line that twists and devolves into harmonic rage and back, never offering the listener solace.

Loskatt is the new talent onboard, hailing from Santiago de Chile this young and promising
producer delivers three exercises of contemporary techno aimed directly for the dancefloor.
On the first cut Hard To Become, the groove goes frenetic at a high BPM rate. A solid
percussive basement combines with repetitive bleeps and reverberated landscapes creating
a compact feel.
Surgery goes next, slowing down the tempos, going more electric on the melodic sound
palette and sounding somewhat old school in an atemporal exercise of cutting edge techno.
Last track Keen is a complete twist in style, going into trance territories, with lots of epic
synths in different layers providing again a nice old school nineties techno feeling but
according to modern rhythmic standards.
A promising talent to keep your eyes on for future releases.

Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains imprint has been a ‘tour de force’ of late, releasing a consistent stream of top notch techno and electronica from artists like Egbert, Mat Playford, Eats Everything, Charlotte de Whitte, Robots With No Soul, Elisa Bee, Martin Books and many more.
 
The duo have been busy of late, readying their full length album for BMG and dropping a couple of singles as a precursor, including a collaboration with Leftfield.  The ‘Neon’ single comes on their own imprint, pulling together two box fresh cuts in their own inimitable fashion.
 
Charging and thunderous beats are coupled with bright rave piano stabs and cut up vox on ‘Neon’, whilst ‘Gout’ takes a decidedly darker route, nonetheless just as funky, as mangled tones and vocals are injected into a tight and dominant rhythm.

Two pioneering German techno duos come together in the latest release for Second State: Motion Unit’s “My Mind” from 1998, given the remix treatment by label bosses Pan-Pot and served three different ways. 

A big walloping kick, industrial crunch, guttural drones and an assortment of spacey synths over the top bring the “Radar Remix” slamming into the now. It’s densely layered, fast-moving, forever changing gears, and bound to blow the roof off virtual raves around the world this summer. The “Future Remix” is more pared back, percolating gently with breathy vocal effects, a slo-mo drone and squelchy acid lines creating a moody, after-hours vibe. Conjuring trippy scenes from outer space, the “Galactica Remix” closes the release out with an unpredictable patchwork of broken beats, snatches of robotic vocal samples and woozy pads, for less conventional dancefloor moments. 

The My Mind remix package offers three exceptional versions of a classic track that are respectful to the source material while refreshing it with the modern techniques and sounds that Pan-Pot are famous for.

Dancing in the Sound Factory, End-Up, Ice Factory, Mayan, Orbit, the Cat Club and the underground of LA. I threw undergrounds in downtown Los Angeles and ran a legal warehouse for four years. This is my beginning. It will never end.
