关云长　Guan Yun Chang（？～２２０）

Guan Yun Chang was a Chinese figure from about 1,800 years ago.

He is a popular figure in the Records of the Three Kingdoms, and for some reason is now worshipped as a god of commerce.

He remained loyal to Liu Bei, the founder of Shu Han, and was admired by many of his contemporaries, including Cao Cao, for his extraordinary bravery and sense of duty.

Among the military commanders appearing in "Epic of the Three Kingdoms," he was as popular as Zhuge Liang, and because he valued righteousness, later generations deified him and designated him as the Guan Di (Guan Emperor).

He is worshiped as the god of business in Chinatowns around the world. He is given special treatment in "Epic of the Three Kingdoms" and is described as Kwan Gong rather than Guan Yu.

The Rose Theatre existed for only 17 years before its demolition in 1604. In the days of Shakespeare's tragedies this was surely a sad tale indeed. 
With 22 theatres in London at the end of the Tudor dynasty these bawdy wooden palaces were situated on the rough southern side of the Thames where cock fighting and bear baiting were also prevalent attractions. The remains of the Rose Theatre's foundations were discovered during recent redevelopment and are now a much heralded visitor attraction.

     This is my new Christmas song for the year. It has a double meaning for me and that's why I call it "The Last Christmas"! Charlie did a good job singing it and I joined him in spots! I wrote it during the hot summer this year, so go figure!!😂 I used up all the tracks I had available to record it (I'm old school, give me a break!) and I had tons of fun recording all the parts too! The song at the end during the credits is another Christmas song I wrote back in 2001 called "Have A Very Merry Christmas" with Sharri singing and Charlie and me doing background vocals. Check both out I have a video each one! This video was super fun to create, I spent a lot of time and effort on it, the sleigh ride with Santa is especially cool! I added a lot of eye-candy and special audio effect here and there. This video is for the whole family so feel free to share it with loved ones and watch it together.

Now for the secret double meaning of this song!! It's a sad tale, so prepare yourselves! Back when I was in high school, back in ancient times, there was a very pretty girl in our English class named Chrissy, she was very nice and sweet, I sat next to her and she was very smart and let us dumb guys cheat off of her papers sometimes!😂 Anyway for almost the whole year I never realized that her real name was Christmas, we all called her Chrissy. There was something very sad about Chrissy, I didn't know what it was but the next year Chrissy never returned to school? Later, I found out she had leukemia, I think? She never returned to school after that and some of the kids told me she had sadly passed away however I'm not sure about that but I never did she her again. So this song is for her and after all these years she popped back in my brain?! So let's all enjoy Christmas this year with family and friends because you never know when it will be your Last Christmas! A Tribute to Gary Numan, inspired by the track Replicas - https://youtu.be/3kdefBY9-PU

The song comes from his 1979 album Replicas, which was actually based on a half-written science-fiction novel Numan was sketching out at the time. The novel (never completed) described a near-future city controlled by machines, with humanoid “Machmen” and android “Replicas” designed to replace or control humans. Think Blade Runner vibes, but darker and more claustrophobic.

Lyrically, Replicas is about these synthetic beings who are physically similar to people but lack real human emotion or individuality. They’re manufactured to maintain control, almost like soulless replacements for us. The “you’re just a replica” line cuts straight to that eerie sense of dispossession — that humans are being swapped out for something cold, programmed, and compliant.

On another level, many fans (and Numan himself in later interviews) have said it also reflects his own feelings of disconnection at the time. He often wrote about not feeling “real” or “authentic,” being alien in his own skin. So Replicas blurs that boundary — is it about robots taking over, or about being human but feeling like a machine?

It’s dystopian, but also strangely intimate — which is why it still feels so haunting today.
