Pandas and People are a 4 piece formed in the small town of Redditch in the Midlands. As there is not much to do in Redditch they like to spend all their time writing and producing music together that blends ideas from many different genres and artists into something recognisably familiar yet progressive and unique. They have recently recorded their debut album in Liverpool's Sandhills Studios with the help of producer and friend Al Groves that promises to be a diverse collection of songs that draw upon elements of Funk, Soul and electronica tied together with indie guitar hooks and vocal melodies and harmonies.

Just in case you hadn’t noticed from the music industry bunker Pledge Music collapsed and took all the pledged music with it. This left many industrious artists adrift.  After the Static Brothers realized that local laurel canyon folkies Boat to Row were caught in this they stepped in to secure the release of their new (second) album.

 

Two years in preparation and working closely with long term collaborator Francis Gorini to mix and master the songs and realize the album artwork, ‘Rivers That Flow In Circles’ is an album that sees that band expanding their musical horizons, from the golden laurel canyon sounds of the latest single ‘On Your Own’, through the ever changing soundscapes of the four movements of ‘Fledgling’, the band have taken every opportunity to develop and redefine their songwriting. Written and recorded through a tumultuous period of lineup changes, corrupted recording hard drives and studio closures, ‘Rivers That Flow In Circles’ captures the band at their resilient best, refusing to know when to quit. Drawing on the talents of band members past and present as well as colleagues from their native Birmingham scene, Boat to Row have created an album which captures their musical explorations perfectly.

 

The last single before the release of ‘Rivers That Flow in Circles’ is 'Moth To The Light', a blast of psych folk that that opens the record, roaring into view with a wonky energy, slowing down just long enough to glide through a chorus or two before disappearing in an off kilter waltz, all in less than two and a half minutes.

'Rivers That Flow in Circles' follows the release of their 2015 debut album ‘I Found You Here’. Since then Boat to Row have garnered support from BBC 6 Music, Radio 2 and many local stations, as well as receiving glowing reviews from websites as diverse as DIY, The 405, Counteract, Folk Radio UK and Gold Flake Paint. They have toured extensively appearing with acts including Slow Club, Johnny Flynn, Willy Mason, Ryley Walker, Kate Rusby, Tom Williams, Sweet Baboo and graced stages at many of the country’s favourite festivals including Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk, Green Man, Truck, Wood, Moseley Folk, Y Not and No Direction Home.
