MayMarr - Trance Sanctuary Kearnage After Party At Ministry Of Sound 09 - 11 - 2024

Chronicles of Trance is a six-hour odyssey spanning across 25 Acts, which feature a grand total of 164 tracks. 

Inspired by mixes such as Oleg Mosins (aka Black Plasma) “Transcendence - A History of Trance”,  and albums such as Joris Voorns “Balance 014” and "Global Underground 043" and of course Armin van Buurens end of year A State of Trance episodes, this mix provides my interpretation of a set that relies on the application of inventive blends. 

Utilising intricate transitions, innovative layering and harmonic mixing to produce a cohesive sonic journey, this mix makes full use of the sync button, with up to 4 decks playing at any given time and utilisation of loops, snippets, acapellas and on the fly edits using cue points. 

It was a challenge and pushed my boundaries as an artist but was also an absolute pleasure to record. The mix aims to capture the essence of trance and progressive tracks from the golden era in its most expansive form.

If I'm honest, I surprised myself by how little planning went into the mix and by how much of it was a result of on the fly selections. Much more than just a selection of bootlegs, (admittedly something I’ve never been a big fan of), I’ve tried to ensure that each track and transition plays its own part and represents itself whilst adding to the holistic journey and direction of the mix.
