"Tony Bennett on steroids"  - need I say more?  Oh, one of Prince's original "hothead" horn section players blew on this!  One take - nice...... :)  One more notable mention: that's a 200 yr old French stand-up bass there - affectionately nicknamed "the Titanic" by moi. 

Castles & Kings

Dean Magraw,  famed international guitar monster,  played lead guitar on this song. He took the vibrato bar on that strat and bent it, shook it, rattled it, and manhandled it in general with an authority bordering on violent - and it was MY strat..  lol   Don't worry, that little '81 Japanese collector's item is none the worse for wear - in fact you might even see me playing it at a concert sometime.  (It's the elegant eggshell one)  I was wondering why he wanted to borrow mine when he had such a nice one sitting right there!
 
Actually, I couldn't get my engineer to work with me on this song for 1 1/2 years because he said that the beat and tempo were just too strange to work.  Now, you tell me... does it work.  I think of it as sort of a warped "St. Peppers" style song.  I do know that the other players who came on LOVED it - thought it was unique, weird and wild.  I think it captures the whole ebb and flow of love -  love exhibited through and as romance, creativity and performance.  
Perhaps the “hidden” track at the end of this little song (with a 30 second pause so be patient) will amuse you as much if not more than the song itself – if you like pet animals and vegan fare that is!    Or maybe you’re just a good-natured, fun loving omnivore.  Either way, I hope it makes you reflect as well as smile.
