Back so soon? Yes we are. We are being graced with a good season this year and who knew that so much could happen in the space of two weeks. Charles Leclerc has finally broken the Monaco curse - or as he said, what curse? Those pictures of Charles and Fred jumping in the water are very much our summer vibe. Max’s winning streak now feels like a lifetime ago. Estie Bestie’s magnetic attraction to Pierre Gasly’s car is finally coming to an end next season with the news of him leaving Alpine. It felt like it was only a matter of time after not even being able to get through a go-kart race without a crash in Drive to Survive. Checo’s contract has surprisingly been renewed with Red Bull. One seat filled and so many to go. All these team changes are hard to keep track of but thankfully F1’s social team are keeping us in the loop. 

We’re looking forward to seeing what this silly season will continue to bring as we head into the Canadian Grand Prix with rain forecasted for the entire weekend. For this occasion, we have Berlin-based DJ Gramrcy taking the wheel and in his own words ‘going off the deep end’ with a three-stint, Medium > Hard > Soft approach to the mix - sticking to the FIA guidelines. The pitstop soundbites are taken from one of the most memorable F1 races to date - the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix. The longest race in F1 history (clocking over 4 hours), the heavy rain downpour meant there was severe delays to the race as well as more safety car periods than ever before as the race ended dramatically with the result decided by a last-lap pass. 

The Montreal F1 track circuit was renamed in 1982 following the tragic death of Quebec racing hero Gilles Villeneuve who won the inaugural race at the circuit in 1978. In 2001, Michael and Ralf Schumacher shared the podium and is where Michael and Lewis Hamilton share the most wins and pole positions.

This week on Topshelf we’re extremely happy to have with us, San-Fran local and House DJ/Producer, Zero Idea.

Hailing from the city by the bay, Zero idea’s brand of house consists of pulling from a multitude of genres such as Techno, classic house and minimal and is a sound to be celebrated. With delightfully crafted sound, utilising quality disco samples, creating beautiful synths and showcasing perfectly places percussions, Zero Idea is an up and coming DJ to get your ears around. 
His first release came in the form of ‘Heavy (Global Groove Cut)’, an encapsulating chilled house track that incorporates classic house percussions and a glorious synth that wonderfully carries throughout.  

This was followed up by a classy minimal record ‘Grey’, showing the artists technical prowess. Building the track with his signature synths for 2 minutes, before a drop perfect for any dance floor environment.

Then came the strings! Each release from Zero Idea’s discography further demonstrates his adaptability and his ‘I Like’ EP added disco strings and a Techno flare to his tool box and really saw the artist come into a wealth of quality. The title track is a disco house anthem and features alongside two bangers in their own right, ‘Edge (She Knows)’, which gives elements of classic and deep house with a gorgeous vocal than harks back to house music of the late 90’s / early 2000’s. ‘Climax’ is the last track of the EP, an acid house weapon with heavy percussion, that features a 90’s sax throughout giving it that classic feel. Huge!

Later highlights to of the discography include the beautifully dark, high tempo ‘FOG TOWN’ with @@, ‘Flair’ a sweat box masterpiece, perfect for any rave. ‘THE GARDEN’ with JdB, a minimal techno marvel, with a killer synth lead, we could go on forever!
