EM and Psy-Chick are part of @everywomanmusic , a community focused on connecting and promoting women in electronic music. They are both based out of Detroit, USA.

This set from killer DJs @jem.4.u and @hellopsychick was recorded with visions of Movement in their minds. They wanted to piece together something that feels like you're dancing your way through a mini-Movement. Starting off with a couple funkafied house tracks, picture yourself swaying in the sun at the Pyramid Stage during that late-afternoon heatwave. The second half of the mix picks up as you transition from day to night and pop a lil candy before heading into the depths of the after hours parties. Sassy, whiplash bass rattles your chest and keeps you dancing until you finally drag your sweaty, stiff body home and go to bed at 10am. And then wake up and do it all over again :)

Burger Steaks third release for us is here! Again, he delivers his own flavour of slowed down DnB beats, Electro and vintage soundtracks. Brain Fog, an attention-catching, dark and jazzy tune with unexpected musical changes is packed with a crazy mix of chelli, sax and trumpets while the punchy drum set will make your dancing shoes glow. Bunker Base feels almost like a pop song out of Rosemaries Baby. It’s church-chorus hook line, flute solos and distorted acid bass make it a pretty wild combination of instruments that are not necessarily heard together much. A wild release that we hope you like as much as we do.

Every sound is a modular approach to sound design, using some awesome M4L devices to map the parameters at random but keeping a controlled rhythm, sitting at 120BPM we're just chilling to the dub soundscapes.

WeTurnToRed (a.k.a. Shamanta Chandran) is a Syrian-born, Tamil-Canadian producer/DJ/singer/songwriter and scientist, based in Toronto. Growing up on the outskirts of the city, she studied and classically trained in opera and jazz as an arts high school kid. Her deep love for electronic music was ignited, after being introduced to the mid-90’s Toronto rave scene by her older brother.

After experimenting in the studio for over a decade, delving into melodic nuances of modular and analog synths, it was clear that growling basslines and haunting melodies were the subjects of her affection. She made her mark in Toronto's electronic music scene through live hardware deep house/techno-focused sets. When Djing she is known as a quality selector of many genres from hip hop, reggae, to house and everything in between. Memorable DJ gigs include opening for legendary artists like Toni Humphries, Waajeed and Dauwd.

Some notable music releases include Planet E Detroit Love-Vol 5 mixed by DJ Holographic, MSTRKRFT’s ORO Records, and Cosmic Resonance (Toronto). Her debut EP, “Smoked Glass” on PITS (Detroit) garnered acclaim, leading to features on “Stamp the Wax” and “Rinse France“to name a few.

WeTurnToRed has an exciting 2022 ahead of her, with forthcoming projects such as a vinyl EP on Cosmic Resonance, releases on Sounds of Berlin (Berlin), plus more to come. As one of the few South Asian women in the electronic modular space, WeTurnToRed is an artist to watch for.
