Press Release:
LABURNŪM returns with a third and last instalment of their Various Grooves VA Series, concluding with a diverse range of artists and grooves once again. Label honcho Cathédral joins the dance, starting the release with a tribal and snappy DJ tool followed by a full-on rave anthem from Danish emerging artist Towsky. On the B Side, The Chronics returns to the label with a house-infused groover, echoing the tribal sound of the first track. S Ruston closes the dance with a perfect closing track full of breaks and 90s nostalgia. Enjoy.

Brazilian-born, Amsterdam-based Lyzza has been burning up the European club scene since emerging late last year as a force to be reckoned with. Set to be released on November 10, Lyzza's longest recorded statement to date arrives via Symbols this Fall, showing off a brash style of contemporary club music that displays a natural verve for performance. Prominently featuring Lyzza's own voice, the Powerplay EP is a tour de force of huge riffs and vocals that leap out of the mix, provided by Lyzza herself, as well as frequent Sega Bodega and coucou chloe collaborator Shygirl.

Beginning with the deliberate march of "Talk Ur Talk", Powerplay unravels slowly over six tracks, a constant build in energy that climaxes with the peak time strut of "LOL, You Wild!" before settling down for the haunting chill and cracking drums of "La Unica". Hardstyle kicks and splashy trance melodies provide texture and drama throughout the whole release, while the aforementioned Shygirl provides a breathy vocal performance that demands repeat listens. And regardless of context, Lyzza has provided a debut that immediately commands full attention, a true stop and turn moment from one of Europe's most talented up-and-comers.

🗯🗯 Wie hat Corona dein Künstlerleben verändert? 🗯🗯

Obwohl ich finanziell von der Musik abhängig bin, hatte ich das Glück, die momentane Situation als willkommene Pause ansehen zu können. Nach 15 Jahren Auflegen tut es gut, die Perspektive wechseln zu dürfen, und mich daran zu erinnern, wo meine Anfänge liegen. Ich habe in der ganzen Zeit nur einen einzigen Gig angenommen, aber bin in den letzten Monaten immer mal wieder in Clubs gegangen um dort alleine für mich zu spielen, wozu es mich vor Corona schon lange nicht mehr gedrängt hatte. Diese bis jetzt 9-monatige Pause hat mir wirklich geholfen, aufzutanken und mich neu inspirieren zu lassen.

🗯🗯 Wo hast du diesen Mix aufgenommen? Wie ging es dir dabei? 🗯🗯

Ich habe den Mix bei mir zuhause während des zweiten Lockdowns aufgenommen. Das hieß, dass ich Musik online bestellen musste; und natürlich gehe ich lieber in den Plattenladen. Außerdem nehme ich nicht gerne und deshalb sehr selten Mixe auf. Irgendwie konnte ich diesen Mix aber genießen, was sicher an der neuen besonderen Situation und dem fehlenden Druck liegt.
