Ongoing Journey

Maul - Ongoing Journey

A composition depicting perhaps the midst of snowy winter, where the encroaching cold is held at bay with a memory of a loved one. 
Harmonically I mostly stayed in D minor/major, with a brief excursion in G minor. I've attempeted to write a middle passage in F major, but the two themes I've managed to come up with simply didn't fit with the rest of the music, but hey, at least I have two new themes for next pieces. 
Completed in the March of 2025.

Intermezzo For Piano, D Minor

Another piece based on the synth compositions from my long-past teenage years. The main theme (slightly rewritten) comes from a short piece I named The Mist Majesty, which, in my opinion, had a distinct autumnal flavor that I wanted to preserve and emphasize in this rewrite. It is also about something else, but autumn is unmistakably present, and I think the watercolor I chose as the cover fits perfectly.
Completed in April of 2025.

The Sorceress

"Downhill" is a rock/pop anthem rooted in the frustration and heartbreak of watching a once-stable connection unravel. Inspired (surprisingly) by a fallout with my ex-landlord, the song explores shifting dynamics, emotional confusion, and the sting of unmet expectations. While it sounds like a breakup song—and is framed like one—it was actually born from a non-romantic fallout, which is part of my songwriting signature: turning everyday conflicts into grand anthems.

Produced by Jay Ives, Downhill blends gritty rock instrumentation with a polished pop structure and a soaring, catchy hook. Its dynamic build mirrors the inner turmoil of navigating miscommunication and power shifts in any kind of relationship—romantic, professional, or otherwise. It’s for anyone who’s ever felt blindsided by someone they once trusted.

Liana’s Daydream was written for a 9-year-old Conservatorium student who is quite wistful herself, but coincidently, Liana’s Lounge, a sculptural park, also sits outside the Conservatorium at South Bank, a perfect place for a lunch break and contemplating. The piece begins with a misty version of a clock chime and remains in a reverie throughout. There are moments in this piece where the mind wanders and dreams unexpected things. Coins of my soul dropped in
they sink into silent depths

"Dear Honey

I kneel again at that moss-rimmed mouth
voice trembling as I pour every fractured refrain:
This is my confession, 
my code, my blood in sound

I belt each line like a prayer
spill my marrow into shadowed depths
then wait for the echo's promise
