Never Be Shaken

I've been shipped around these islands since i was seventeen.
Finally, I found the time to take it all easy.
You offered up your violence, but I'm largely sedentary. 
The singular collection of star dust that's left for me.

You came to me all smiling, but it wasn't what it seemed.
You placed me in a cage, and then you threw away the key.
I offered nought but silence to escape your hedgmony. 
Whilst picking through the bones in an attempt at living free.

Dreams aren't ever as they seem. 
People scrape by and scheme.
People sing their own songs.
Dreams, where the doors are closing.
The booming voice from within.
Says wait for things to go wrong.

See this relationship begat a pile of your debris.
The mask came creeping formless in the shape of pleasantries. 
You offered up compliance, but then asked me for a fee.
It cost as much as anything, as much as sanity. 

The shadowbans, my biggest fan, a waking reverie.
A place to spend the winter where the winds aren't so heavy.
You sold me out for pennies cos the costs were heavenly.
A separation brought on by the waters of the sea.

Dreams of a type and a theme.
Into soft melodies 
With people dancing along.
Dreams are warnings sent by a friend.
Who knows to what they portend?
Suppose they speed things along.

The link that held together had been severed long before. 
A chink that turned forever into kind of nevermore.
A difference of opinion can be all kinds of deathly.
You bought a brand new lock and then you threw away the key.

If life's just a short interlude.
'pon which we just briefly intrude. 
If the light is the darkest 'fore dawn.
And the kids didn't ask to be born.
Just a dapple of light through the trees.
Feathers hang on the breeze.

If the world's just an apple in a space.
That the prothets can't put in its place.
It there anything out there or no?
Just a indifferent void that's let go.
Just a ember of fire that briefly transpires and glows. 

If someone comes up with a way.
For us to move forward and say.
Oh, remember when we used to pay.
For the things that were ours anyway  
All is dark and undone, all is pressed up and worn out, okay?

A light that can pierce through in the dark.
The right way to ignite the spark. 
A look from the edge of the sky.
An awkward exchange you let by. 
Sudden kindling of lovers who hated each other for years. 

If life's just a short interlude.
Upon which we just briefly intrude. 
Then as we're not here to stay.
Let's go out and enjoy the day.

Least there if I was pretty then they'd all be pretty too.
But since I am so ugly I don't know what I'm going to do.

Oh, I've never been a gambler to the detriment of me.
If I had lots of money then at least I could be free.
But instead, I'm cold and lonely, don't know what I'm gonna do.
Suppose ill climb this mountain just to try and make it through.

but when I'm looking back.
I never have been happy no matter what I can't relax.
And in my dreams I'm alone and deserted by my crew.
Just tramping through the wild lands trying to find something thats new.

Everybody asking me what I intend to do.
About the situation that's arising now with you.
Well, aiming to be happy looks like you'd be happy too.
But now im left alone I don't know what I'm gonna do.

A blanket in the hamper which will help keep out the cold.
A place to rest my weary bones since I am getting old.
A plastic type of vengeance that comes naturally to me.
I wanted to be something but I never found the Key. 

A fire in the Winter and a beer when it's warm.
There ain't no sense in spending your whole life just half falorn.
You're gonna have to forget about the things they've done to you.
You cannot claim advantage so there's nothing to left to do.
