I wanted to experiment with the sequencing on the Minilogue xd to see how long of a track I could make by slowing the tempo to minimum (10 bpm) and step resolution to the maximum 1/1, and using the arpeggio feature to make it as interesting as I could. Turned out to be 6:24 for some reason, but I looped through twice for good measure. I used a random arp with a 3 octave pattern and set the swing to 13%. A long LFO gave it more variation. I created the bass beat using the Synthstrom Deluge. With the Minilogue dictating the midi clock, it turned out that the bass beat also got the swing applied, which surprised me. I used a custom oscillator and a custom reverb. The long delay and reverb effects made it more interesting, but I had to dial them back a little so that they wouldn't make the xd stop playing.

Sea Change

The soundtrack to Zankyou no Terror, composed by Yoko Kanno, is a favorite of mine, and was some of the inspiration for this synth patch and track. The track is somewhat similar to the last one (Sea Change) in that I built up a rhythm on the Deluge to accompany the synth sounds from the Minilogue xd's sequencer. This time I wanted to go for a more ambient mood so I didn't use an arpeggio, and just had the sound change over time with the slow envelope and LFO. I made the rhythm accompaniment much more complex and played around with polyrhythms a bit. I recorded the instruments separately so that I could mix them afterwards.

Zankyou no Rhythm

I made this for the Deluge users Discord April challenge. This one involved only using arpeggiated sounds, all on the Deluge. I put it together fairly quickly, but after listening to it a bunch I feel it is good as is. Editing the notes would take away from the spontaneity. The instrument sound is the lute stop of the harpsichord multisample sets I posted on the Synthstrom forum a good while back. I played it in live using the arpeggio and strumming features of the Keystep 37. The synth sound is a heavily modified patch 0 (with an arp of course), played in live for a solo section and then as accompaniment for the harpsichord section, though I also have it play that portion once prior to the harpsichord coming in since I thought it was interesting to hear on its own.

Deluge Challenge 04-22 - Arps Only

Arpsichord

I wanted to make a fun dance track that used all my synths. So I started with a beat on the deluge built from the sounds of the 808, made a fun sequence for a Typhon default bass patch with the Keystep 37's arp, and played in a sequence with one of my organ patches on the Minilogue xd in the D#m / Ebm pentatonic blues scale (all black keys plus A). I tweaked the sequence a bit, shifting timing to be more precise, and adjusting a few chords here and there. I recorded a drone chord into the Deluge so that I could get around the xd's four note polyphony limitation. Then I had some fun turning things on and off and twisting knobs while recording it all in.

A month ago we became mystic creatures - ones that never sleep, swim naked in the lake, talk to the sheeps and eat only vegan gyros. Mystic Creatures Festival was the best festival season finale we could imagine. 
It was a pure plasure to perform there. To make that time even more memorable, we decided to upload the recording of our live act from saturday morning at Creatures Corner.
