Leipzig-based artist and DJ Valeska’s sets and mixes are driven by an enthusiasm for ever-changing rhythmic structures, unheard sounds, vigorous stabs and kicks, and uneasy moods. On stage, Valeska’s sets quickly shift from soft embraces to heavy hits. Her musical excursions she undertook on tapes for the local Prepaid Records label as well as part of the Pracht e.V. and in numerous other contexts. Other than that, she’s part of the DJ collective L1CK, which traces modern currents of club music.

In my mixes I put a focus on uncomfortable sounds that challenge the listening habits and the expectations of the (Leipzig) club scene, and choose tracks which require getting involved. I like music that crosses genres, music that can’t be put in fixed categories and which brings together different and diverse approaches. I’m also fascinated by the musical translation of contemporary discourses and emotions.

Under this project, this duo seeks to diffuse elements of club music from the past into the present, while remaining fresh and open to an unpredictable outcome.

From acid bass lines to algorithmic beats, Auricular creates an eclectic mixture of old and new techniques, leading the listener to find hints to the past and in the same time, discover new territories of club related music.

Snacks, munchies, nibbles... We all rely on little treats and indulgences to take us through the day. For Snacks, members of the Global URL Nation could propose a track in just 20 to 30 seconds. Not a demo or snippet, but an actual track that can exist fully by itself, something meaningful and impactful that would push them to distill their ideas down to their core essence.


Snacks explores what makes the backbone of a track, how to shape its core and play with temporality and emotions in such a short time span. The exercise is much harder than it seems, and it challenged every contributor to think critically about their practice and the listening experience of this unusual timing. When there is only 30 seconds to work with, every note and sound becomes incredibly important : how can a complete emotional arc can be created within a limited time frame, to craft a musical story that is both succinct and stimulating? 

By pushing artists to explore this format, the compilation aims to promote a deeper understanding of the creative process : when forced to work within constraints, we are forced to be more intentional and deliberate in our choices, leading to uncomfortable or innovative approaches to music production, as well as a greater appreciation for the values of simplicity and brevity.

The result is a compilation that welcomes artists from all backgrounds, including AFGA06L, Bademjan, Beatrice, B E N N, Bouzouk, Cesar Ch., Cralias, Dj Crave, Griigg, indigoblue, Lukann,  Medejín, personalbrand, Pénélope, P I T, Shashakimbo, Sxmbra, Victor Metske & VINÍ. Each artist has contributed with their unique perspective, ranging from ambient pads to abrasive cuts, percussive hits, and organic environments, always on the verge between frustration and comfort. 

Snacks is more than just a collection of tracks - it is a representation of the diversity of musical expression, and a testament to the creativity of the Global URL Nation. We hope that you will enjoy these little treats as much as we have, and that they can provide you a moment of joy or inspiration - as a quick snack to lift your spirits, or as a momentary escape from the stresses of the day.

Sha Sha Kimbo - 2FAR GONE

SILO is the result of improvised compositions, created and recorded inside an empty silo in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland. This cylindrical empty tank was formerly used in the production of fish meal, the main industry of this small town. Large fishing boats constantly come and go from the fjord, where steep and lean mountains rise up on both sides. The silo is like an encapsulation of the fjord, where all sounds from the surrounding waterfalls, snow blizzards, sea birds, ships, and factory machines are sucked in and thrown around, spiraling in metallic reverberations. Once you have entered through the small hatch opening, all senses sharpen. The light is dim, illuminating the orange dust-covered floors. There’s an obscure smell of rust and fish, and breath turns into steam in the frigid cold air. Every sound, each footstep and movement of the body, is amplified in the soundscape of the silo. The sense of time and space quickly gets lost. The source of that which you’re sensing is ambiguous as the sounds of the synth, the flute, and our voices are woven into each other, blurring distinctions between what is mine/yours/ours.
