Originally a track fast made to finish the EP, but it was the most succesfull track I ever made. Top 40 in Belgium and many compilations. A bit confusingly named Opus while the other side of the vinyl had a track called Opus 1. This track should have been named Opus 2, but something went wrong with the art work..

Jimmy Asquith returns with a scorching self-release for 2019. This time ramping up the BPM and taking us into seriously speed-ball territory with a trio of thundering club tracks. 

Touch The Sky is a 150bpm trance-techno epic that spans near 11 minutes. Segueing from bouncy liquid bass-lines to soaring chords and a stuttering, trance-y triplet low end - this is a seriously tidy tune for proper speedball sets. 

Flipping over we get the pounding and rhythmic explosion of Cranky. Pace-y drum-tool electro with a heavy pitched down vocal groan. Rapid-fire percussion, resonant drops and some cheeky 808 action. Supreems-approved gear this one! 

Lastly comes Kunstcamp Acid. This should probably should come with a Warning sticker for those of a CDJ BPM-staring persuasion. What starts out as a steady 126 acid drum workout quickly becomes a rocket of a track squelched right up to 150BPM. Originally conceived as a tool for traversing said BPM range in recent sets, this has become a stone cold Asquith centrepiece and gives little excuse to not start smashing the pitch up further.

Having kicked off the year debuting a new audio-visual performance, enduring techno outfit Octave One announce new music for 2019, with a series of EP’s entitled ‘Locus of Control’. Featuring many unreleased nuggets, the series will feature unreleased tracks which were tried and tested at a recent Valencia Boiler Room set.

The term ‘Locus of Control’ is a psychological concept that refers to how strongly people believe they have control over the situations and experiences that affect their lives.

“Musically we are exploring the ‘power or powerlessness people feel over the things that shape their world’.” State the Brothers.

Side One kicks off with ‘Lies In Truth’, euphoric piano meets melodic stabs layered with feel good crescendos and a positive uplifting baseline. Intelligent synth builds and layers making for a super strong lead track. Followed by Injection (String Free edit) with an intensifying and pulsing rib rattling bass.

Side Two features the full version of ‘Injection’. The thundering bass takes you on a journey of transcending arpeggios, developing progressions and meandering melodies making the track a peak time cut.

Milan-based imprint Just This present Cristalli Ionici, a four-track EP from Italian duo Abstrakt featuring a Marcel Fengler remix out June 28th.

Abstrakt is a collaborative project from Luca Rambelli and Filippo Scorcucchi concerned with the intense study of spatial timbres - a psychedelic trip represented as a sonic aesthetic.

A relatively new endeavour, their debut on Just This offers an expertly crafted voyage into the outer reaches of the imagination. Sonically, the EP files under ambient techno, brandishing swirling textures and tangible effects to create a blissful meditative state.

For his remix of the title track, Marcel Fengler places the subtle complexion of the original and places it inside a driving rhythmic pattern of syncopated percussion and unrestrained energy.
