Throughout my career, I’ve created (or co-created) some iconic mixtapes.  Viva La Hova.  Dillagence.  Ready To Boom.  That mixtape with Adele.  And of course, the Summertime series with Jazzy Jeff.

But this one here (probably my last ever mixtape, to be honest) is special.

The music.  The concept.  And even the origin story.

Recently, I was blasting Jay-Z’s The Blueprint in honor of its 20th anniversary.

My fiancé Carolyn was upstairs playing lots of Beyoncé to balance out the incessant amount of Hov playing in my office.

At one point, both playlists synced on beat and my mind was blown.

My first thought: THIS SHOULD BE AN ALBUM

I called up my creative partner Chi Duly (the most talented musician I know) and we fleshed out the idea for this project.

I dug up all the classic Blueprint samples (and some other classic Jay sources, as well).  

Chi acquired a bunch of Beyoncé acapellas.   And then we got to work.

23 songs.  All songs produced exclusively for this tape.  These are not deejay blends.  This is original production using the original samples with lots of other fun things added in.

(And, of course, some rare and timely Jay-Z verses sprinkled in for good measure).

I’m not sure if we will ever get The Carters, Part 2.

But until that day… we have something just as good. :)

This is the most creative thing I have ever been a part of.

I offer my tribute to HAFT, a collaborative force in music production formed by Sam Nasehi and Amir Subb, hailing from Iran. These two individuals have consistently crafted their own unparalleled blends of rhythms and melodies. 

Taking inspiration from percussive cadences, deep-rooted pads, and entrancing synths, HAFT's central mission revolved around melding these components into a truly distinctive sonic tapestry, employing an array of organic melodies.

HAFT (Classics)

DJ’ing since the mid-1990s while running record labels in London and working promotions for all manner of electronic music artists, including Bjork, Massive Attack, and The Chemical Brothers. A regular warm-up for Sasha leading to 15 years on the road, touring globally and voted best DJ in 2004. 2010 brought the inception of Never Say Never at Ushuaia Ibiza consequently throwing Dimitri deeper into studio productions creating releases for the likes of Bedrock Records, TrybesOf and All Day I Dream, peaking with a no.1 on Beatport this year with the ongoing collaborations with Natacha Atlas, Limara and Curol. 

Little note, I have taken a bit of a hiatus since 2020 and all my work and tours being canceled so if you have someone who can write up a better biography as I threw these words together in a rush, I will be grateful and it will read better. 

NB. Live and recorded sessions are always different, 500, 5000 and 50,000 people require different approaches.  I did my best to adapt according to your request. So again, I hope you like it and it’s good for you all.
