I've decided to dedicate my quarantine time to make ambient music. Probably not the best move financially, but I can't help myself diving into those filtered resonated tones as I feel so contacted by their imperfectness right now.

The first in an annual series of exciting compilations, this is a landmark release for the label who recruits leading artists Matt Fax and Dezza for two thrilling mixes that feature 35 exclusive tracks showcasing the most exciting acts in Progressive, Deep and Melodic House.

On Colorscapes Volume One, Matt Fax and Dezza bring together established Colorize names like PRAANA, Andre Sobota, Anden, Sound Quelle, Boxer, Hexlogic and Milkwish with exciting label newcomers like Pete K, Murtagh, Rylan Taggart, farfetch'd, Andromedha and Tripswitch. Matt Fax brings two electrifying remixes to the compilation with 2005 techno sensation 'Rej' by German act Âme and British DJ/Producer D.O.D.'s 2018 house hit 'Glow' getting reworked in remarkable fashion. The mixes build and swell organically with both DJs flexing their talents effortlessly, creating two exhilarating mixes that will take you on a voyage into the deep and progressive.

With Matt Fax and Dezza reaching new heights as artists and becoming concrete names in the world of Progressive House, this compilation comes at an exciting time for Colorize. Since his first release on the label in 2013, Matt Fax has seen immense growth as a producer through releasing impressive, genre-expanding singles and his debut artist album Contrast in 2017, and as a DJ having played a run of shows from Europe to Asia in 2019 as well as the Progressive Stage at Electronic Family in the Netherlands. Canadian DJ/Producer Dezza has also had a whirlwind of a year, releasing his debut artist album Cosmos, a tour of Australia, ASOT900 and then playing at the Budlight Dreams festival in Toronto in June. The two artists also headlined a sold-out show at London's Oval Space in July for the first Colorize event.

Colorscapes Volume One will be supported by a launch party at London's renowned venue Egg on the 22nd of September which will see Matt Fax and Dezza headline with support from Amy Wiles, Boxer, Sound Quelle and Steve Brian pres. Cabriolet Paris. An official label event will also be held in October during Amsterdam Dance Event, followed by a North American co-headline tour from Matt Fax and Dezza that will feature other prominent Colorize artists.

Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint continues a fruitful year welcoming Joe Miller to the label for his debut EP. A firmly recognized name in the electronic underground, the Melbourne resident lays claim to releases on All Day I Dream, Dream Culture, Magician On Duty and Sag & Tre. Now making his much anticipated Sound Avenue debut, Joe presents his ‘The Last of the Great Days’ EP alongside remixes from Jamie Stevens and Jean Caillou.

Sitting in the creative space between electronica and deep house, organic is often a term aptly associated with Joe’s music. The title selection sits firmly in the latter category with its deep dulcet tones, warm bass swells and timely piano motifs. Building in waves, it's a series of haunting overlays which sits as the primary theme, perfectly blanketing tranquil arps and luminous percussion, across a concise and heartfelt six minute journey. The companion piece 'Nightjar' finds Joe exploring the electronica side of his studio repertoire. A style he's been flexing more of late, incredibly fresh and highly creative, it’s a collage of uniquely processed and wonderfully creamy tones that captivates here. All eet over a bed of broken beats and wistful atmospherics, which ultimately underpin the narrative.

As the majority of countries are currently facing lockdown due to Covid-19, I figured this would be an ideal opportunity to offer something a little bit different with a purpose to help people unwind and de-stress during these unprecedented times.

As you know I’ve been trying to add different flavours to each weeks JOOF Sessions gatherings, this week we’re going to do something different and play an ambient set. For those who have experienced my open to close sets you’ll already know I open the evening with some ambient vibes, this not only creates anticipation for the night ahead but is also the roots of the DJ you know John 00 Fleming. Ambient music is the roots of how it all started for me and what got me fascinated with electronic music in the 80’s and still today influences the JOOF sound. 
These are tracks that I regularly play at home, full rich sounds, dreamy and hypnotic, they are very powerful and stimulate new parts of your mind. We’re all going through difficult times at the moment, though we’re getting stronger each week, we still have those bolt of lightening reality checks of the world situation. I want this session to put you in a different mindset to take you away from everything, to give us hope, happiness and appreciate everything around us. Music is a very powerful healing tool and something I turn to all the time. I’m going to leave the camera pointed down because being honest with you, many of these tracks bring me to tears, but in a good way. Many people are holding mass pressure on their shoulders at the moment and not released tears yet, I hope this offers a release for you, you’ll feel better after. 
 Keep this set for years to come, and it will make you smile. I’ll also make a Spotify playlist of this too after and keep adding to it.
