Our beloved duo @Madota is back on Saisons with their first original EP. A project that embodies a pivotal chapter for them after a long time apart on different sides of the world. After experiencing humanity on pause from different coordinates, Behnam and Mehran finally reunited in Berlin, picked up the energy where they left off and dove straight into the studio with a new approach to their creative process.

In the light of everything happening in their motherland of Iran, they feel more called than ever to celebrate their heritage. In this 2-track EP, you can feel Madota’s roots. It’s a voyage into their past that taps into the energies and the stories of where they come from…and it only feels like the beginning.

'Roobah' is playful with colorful roots. The duo created this track from blending piano pieces of Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou - an Ethiopian nun who they grew up to love, mixed with Ahmad Shamloo’s audio recreation of "The Little Prince". The audio tapes and CDs of Shamloo’s work became illegal after the Islamic Revolution.

The result of this sonic painting is a celebration of both stories in a deep and jazzy groove with warm soulful harmonies. Dusty and playful. An ode to life and freedom.

'Del' is the darker and deeper track of the pair. The groove is rooted in a dense and weighed down rhythm coupled with shreds of dusty pianos. Behnam’s voice guides the story, singing 'Del' which means ‘Heart’ in farsi. The lyrics come from an old persian poem that goes something like:

O heart, if you love
Seek comfort
In the heart of day and night

The track embodies Madota’s overflow of emotions that come up in reviving their relationship with their roots while also honoring the courage of their people in their fight for freedom.

A part of the proceeds from this release will go to support families in Iran.

DJ Zombi has been travelling this planet, the world of electronic dance music, and all the exotic dimensions that extend between those two. The output of his synthesisers and rhythm machines sounds just as well- travelled as the Isreali producer himself. French Toast kicks off on a tribalist-percussive groove, floating on the warm buoyancy of a house bassline. Then a dreamy melody spreads through the wide-open stereo space, with delicate notions of Trance shimmering along its streamlined texture. The remix remains close to the balmy, subtropical emotions of French Toast, but expressed through the organically rolling vibes of @mollonobass. Society is in crisis - and we need guidance. One part medicine man and two parts adventurer, The Phantom Whistler is the Australian mystic and gun-for-hire blazing trails across the untamed Wild West. Sheriffs say he's an odd stick, a high noon drifter folding music into wistful states of consciousness; lawmakers paint him as outright dangerous, a counter-culture iconoclast with a dicey reputation/taste for treasure.

The ambient opener' Universal Wisdom' dispatches lessons amongst a lattice of synths and sounds. 'We are spiritual beings having a human experience', the sage guru relays, opening the circle in a didactic fashion.

A soft, deep house throb welcomes the listener to 'Project MK Ultra': Digestible melodies swirl around a shiny harmonica, a trademark whistle, and a vocal discussing past wrongs done by the powers that be; the massive breakdown a tight allegory for the societal tension looking to break.

'Strike a Match' is seductive, offering sweet leaf etiquette as a big middle finger to stifling authority. With guitars dripping in chorus pedals and a fat 4/4 engine, this one has it all: sex, drugs and rock n roll — Wild West style.
