A mix of music from the films of Terrence Malick

With seemingly effortless precision and a sense for the imperfect, Popp merges Ambient, Third Stream and Minimal Music on his debut album „Laya“. The title derives from the Sanskrit language and signifies a place of rest and mental inactivity. In the spring of 2019 Popp created these 8 tracks from hours of improvisation in his own studio. The moments thus captured were then enriched with more sounds and effects to add layers and shed the manually played percussion of all its earthliness. The result is an album of concealed complexity and unadorned beauty. 

Raised on an old farm in rural Bavaria, Simon Popp started playing the drums at the age of 9. During his studies at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Munich, he extensively studied music from countries like Ghana, Benin, India and Cuba where rhythm is central to culture. On his quest for this world‘s sounds, Popp collected and recorded a wide variety of drums and other instruments, adding to the placelessness of Laya.

As we hasten towards the inevitable Waterworld of the next century, Latvian composer, sound artist and lecturer Reinis Semēvics charts our safe passage to dry land with his debut album 'Train Of Thought'. Inspired by the rhythmic movement of water and how its rippled reflections bend our perception, Reinis sculpts an immersive sound collage - a precise mixture of field recordings and self-made sounds which swell and swirl as we bathe in their beauty. 
Bookended by the Baltic's roar at the Bay of Rīga, 'Train Of Thought' drifts from the harbour to the open sea, conveying the restful calm and frenetic power of a body of water throughout. Misty pads and delicate piano conjure lapping waves and blue skies, bubbling sequences ripple up from the deep and cascading melodies fall around hypnotic rhythms, each distinct droplet offering a different feeling and mood. One moment flows into the next, nine rivers pouring into a single ocean of sonic bliss.  
The alias R_R_ is a tribute to his grandfather, the composer Ģederts Ramans, whose influence helped set Reinis' sonic journey in motion. We're very happy he's decided to stop off in the Growing Bin, and we're sure you will be too.

Sakiko Osawa is a exciting and sought after music creator, producer and a DJ, based in Shibuya, Tokyo. 
By the produce of “Oiran Music”, she released her first EP “Tokyo Disco Beat” from 7Stars Music (Amsterdam) on February 2014 and hit Top2 in the electronics chart on iTunes

She was born in Iwate prefecture and started her music career by playing Violin at the age of 3. However, once she discovered a world of Rock in the school days, she formed a mixture rock and punk band and played bass-guitar. She did not take time to choose her career; she entered one of a top art college in Tokyo, Nihon University College of Art, and majored Music and studied Music Information, Acoustics, Recordings, and Media-Art. She researched her own surround sound system which differs from the standard but uses eight speakers at once. 
Since rave culture attracted Sakiko’s interest when she was 20, she has approached music using various inspirations from wide range of un-musical sources. She entered one of the top visual production company and acquired knowledge and skill of projection mapping, visual directing, and interactive broadcast system. Her interest expands to fashion as well, she wears “Triangle” motif clothing and accessories and expands her creativity in music. 
Sakiko played her live set at “Shibuya Oiran”, one of the famous warm-up bar in Shibuya and met with a DJ, lyricist, and producer of Shibuya Oiran, Venus Kawamura Yuki and scouted to play at her dance music specialized internet radio “block FM”, which is considered as a BBC radio1 in Japan. 
Sakiko’s thrilling and solid character has become one of the essences of new Japanese beauty and her one-of-a-kind sound is considered as the future for the next generation.
