LESSON 19 | 11/11/2024: Explanation of The Three Fundamental Principles 

– The Text: The greatest of all that Allāh has commanded is Tawḥīd which is to single out Allāh with all worship, The most serious thing that He forbade is shirk, which is to invoke others besides Him, along with Him. The proof is His saying, the Most High: {Worship Allāh alone, making all worship purely for Him, and do not associate anything in worship along with Him} [Surah Al-Nisa (4): 36].
– Explanation of Muhammad Ibn Ibrāhīm رحمه الله:
– The meaning and the intent behind “the greatest of all that Allāh has commanded”.
– The meaning of “commanded” is that you must learn and have knowledge.
– Shirk is the greatest sin, injustice and wrong to Allāh’s Tawḥīd Al-Rubūbiyyah.
– The reason why Shirk is the greatest sin.

– The Text: So if it said to you: How did you arrive at this knowledge of your Lord?” Then say: “Through His signs and those things which He has created; and from his signs are the night and the day, the sun and the moon; and from that which He has created are the seven heavens, and the seven earths, and all those within them, and whatever is between them.”
 
Shaykh Muhammad bin Ibrahīm’s رحمه الله  Explanation:
– Meaning of Ayāt (signs) linguistically.
– Principle: Every single sign of Allah and His creation is a proof and indication of the oneness of Allah.
– The types of signs: Universal Signs and examples.
– Explanation of the signs: night and day, sun and the moon showing that Allah is the Originator and the Creator.
Shaykh Fawzan’s حفظه الله explanation:
– Everything that we see in existence of the creation was at one time not in existence and Allah originated it.
– No one from the creation created it and no one would dare to claim to be the creator.
– Allah says: Verily! Those on whom you call besides Allah, cannot create (even) a fly, even though they combine together for the purpose. Surah Hajj: 73

3) Miracles of the Prophets

– The proof is the saying of Allah, the Most High, “And from His signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate to the sun, nor to the mon, but prostrate to Allah who created them, if you truly worship Him.” [Surah Al-Fussilat (41):37]

The Text: “…and the sun and the moon and the stars are subservient and subject to His command. Certainly creation and commandment are His alone. Exalted is Allah the Lord of all creation.”
Explanation of Shaykh Fawzan:
– Linguistic breakdown of the ayah “Certainly creation and commandment are His alone.”
– The two categories of commandment with examples.
– The difference between creation and commandment and the correct understanding of this is a refutation of the Jahmiyyah.
– The trial of Imam Ahmad regarding the Qur’an and it is not created.

The Text: The Lord is the one who is worshipped, and the proof is the Saying of Allah, the Most High, “O mankind, single out your Lord with all worship; He who created you and all those who came before you, so that you may be of those who seek to avoid Allah’s anger and punishment, those whom Allah is pleased with. He who has made the earth a resting place for you and has made the sky a canopy, and set down the rain from the sky, and brought out with it crops and fruits from the earth as provision for you. So do not set up rivals with Allah in your worship whilst you have no Lord besides Him.” [Surah al-Baqarah (2):21-22]
Shaykh Fawzan's explanation:
– Only Allah is deserving of being worshipped and it is not enough to acknowledge that He is the Lord, but you have to acknowledge that He deserves to be worshipped and you have to act upon it.
– The three categories that Allah has placed mankind in the beginning of Surah Baqarah: Believers, Disbelievers and the Hypocrites and their descriptions.
– Explanation of the above verse.
– The Text: Ibn Kathīr رحمه الله said: The creator of these things is the One Who deserves to be worshipped.”
– Linguistic meaning of Ibadah (worship).
– The two categories of Ibādah:
1. General worship for all of His creation; who are the slaves of Allah.
