[15/08/2025] Good Companionship - Shaykh Abu Fuḍayl ‘Abdur Raqīb حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid As-Sunnah An-Nabawiyyah, Aston, Birmingham, UK.

– From the blessings of Allah is that He has created companions for us.
– The difference between a righteous and an evil companion upon our life and our final outcome.
– Hadīth showing the similitude of a good companion and the evil companion: The Perfume seller and the blacksmith.
– The benefits of having a righteous companion.
– From having good characteristics is to have righteous companions.
- Hadīth: The souls are like a recruited army.
– The Prophets and Messengers chose good companions for themselves.
– The virtues of Abu Bakr as Siddeeq – the beloved companion of the Prophet ﷺ.
– Allah says: “… when the two of them were in the cave, and the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Don’t be scared as Allah is with us.'” [Surah Tawbah (9): 40].
– A friend in need is a friend indeed – true friends are there for you in times of need.
– The signs of a good companion.

Good Companionship By Abu Fudayl

[22/08/2025] Evil Companionship - Shaykh Abu Fuḍayl ‘Abdur Raqīb حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid As-Sunnah An-Nabawiyyah, Aston, Birmingham, UK.

Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:
– The importance of righteous companionship and the harms of evil companionship.
– Companionship can be on an individual basis or a societal/ communal situation.
– Allāh تعالى said: “Verily! As for those whom the angels take (in death) while they are wronging themselves (as they stayed among the disbelievers even though emigration was obligatory for them), they (angels) say (to them): “In what (condition) were you?” They reply: “We were weak and oppressed on earth.” They (angels) say: “Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to emigrate therein?” Such men will find their abode in Hell – What an evil destination!” [Surah Nisa (4): 97].
– The story of the man who killed 99 men.
– Mankind can be affected by those whom he associates with swiftly.
– Hadith: Arrogance and pride is found amongst camel herders and tranquility is found against sheep herders.
– The signs and the characteristics of an evil companion.
– Story of when the Prophet ﷺ went to Abu Talib on his deathbed who was accompanied by the chiefs of the Quraysh - encouraging him to accept the shahadat and his companions encouraging him to stay upon the religion of Abdul Muttalib.
– Allah تعالى says: “Verily! You (O Muhammad ) guide not whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He knows best those who are the guided.” [Surah Qasas (28): 56].
– Advice to choose good companions over evil companions so you don’t have any regrets.
– Allah تعالى says: “And (remember) the Day when the Zalim (wrong-doer, oppressor, polytheist, etc.) will bite at his hands, he will say: “Oh! Would that I had taken a path with the Messenger (Muhammad ﷺ).
“Ah! Woe to me! Would that I had never taken so-and-so as a friend!
“He indeed led me astray from the Reminder (this Qur’an) after it had come to me. And Shaitan (Satan) is ever a deserter to man in the hour of need.” [Surah Furqan (25): 27-29].


Evil Companionship By Abu Fudayl

[29/08/2025] Do Not Become Displeased with Allāh's Blessings - By Shaykh Abu Fuḍayl ‘Abdur Raqīb حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.

Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:

- A sign of ill manners, wretchedness and ingratitude to Allāh.

- Shaykh as-Sa’dī (رحمه الله) on the verse, “So which of the blessings of your Lord will you both (jinn and men) deny?”

- Sallām b. Abī Mu’ṭī (رحمه الله)on being more grateful for the blessings in our dīn than our dunyā. 

- The excellent response of the Jinn when the Prophet ﷺ recited Sūrah Raḥmān to them.

- Reflections from Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) upon the verse, “…Verily! Allāh will not change the good condition of a people as long as they do not change their state of goodness themselves (by committing sins and by being ungrateful and disobedient to Allāh). But when Allāh wills a people's punishment, there can be no turning back of it, and they will find besides Him no protector.” [Sūrah ar-Ra’d 13:11]

- A common but hidden evil that occurs regarding a servant and the blessings bestowed upon him. 

- Following the example of the Messenger ﷺ in seeking advice from our Lord. 

- A breakdown of the du’ā of Istikhārah. 

- One of the greatest blessings of Allāh upon the slave. 

- The injustice and ignorance of mankind. 

- Ibn Taymiyyah (رحمه الله) on the origin of mankind, and his need for detailed knowledge. 

- “…and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allāh knows but you do not know.” [Sūrah al-Baqarah 2:216]

- Turning to Allāh in all of our affairs. 

- The reason a man may dislike jihād, and why it is better for him. 

- The necessity of seeking knowledge and how it aids us in being grateful for the blessings of Allāh.

[10/09/2025] The Conditions, Pillars & Requirements of the Prayer

The Pillars of the Prayer are Fourteen.

The main point covered in this lesson:
