Khutbah: Seeing Allah in the Afterlife

[07/02/2025] Embracing Islām Expiates All Sins - By Abu Idrees Muhammad Khān حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.

     قُولُوۤا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَمَاۤ أُنزِلَ إِلَیۡنَا وَمَاۤ أُنزِلَ إِلَىٰۤ إِبۡرَ ٰ⁠هِـۧمَ وَإِسۡمَـٰعِیلَ وَإِسۡحَـٰقَ وَیَعۡقُوبَ وَٱلۡأَسۡبَاطِ وَمَاۤ أُوتِیَ مُوسَىٰ وَعِیسَىٰ وَمَاۤ أُوتِیَ ٱلنَّبِیُّونَ مِن رَّبِّهِمۡ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَیۡنَ أَحَدࣲ مِّنۡهُمۡ وَنَحۡنُ لَهُۥ مُسۡلِمُونَ

Say (O Muslims), "We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent down to Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma'il (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Ya'qub (Jacob), and to Al-Asbat [the twelve sons of Ya'qub (Jacob)], and that which has been given to Musa (Moses) and 'Iesa (Jesus), and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islam)." [Al-Baqarah, Ayah 136]

فَإِنۡ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِمِثۡلِ مَاۤ ءَامَنتُم بِهِۦ فَقَدِ ٱهۡتَدَوا۟ۖ وَّإِن تَوَلَّوۡا۟ فَإِنَّمَا هُمۡ فِی شِقَاقࣲۖ فَسَیَكۡفِیكَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ﴿ ١٣٧ ﴾

So if they believe in the like of that which you believe, then they are rightly guided, but if they turn away, then they are only in opposition. So Allah will suffice you against them. And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. [Al-Baqarah, Ayah 137]

All of the prophets called to the worship of Allāh alone. 
The characteristics of the believers. 
The purpose of creation. 
Those whom Allāh guides to Islām. 
How does Allāh open a person’s heart to correct guidance?
The touching story of ‘Amr ibn Al-Ās embracing Islam. 
The weight of responsibility and authority. 
The virtue of those who enter Islam. 
إِلَّا مَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ عَمَلࣰا صَـٰلِحࣰا فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ یُبَدِّلُ ٱللَّهُ سَیِّـَٔاتِهِمۡ حَسَنَـٰتࣲۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورࣰا رَّحِیمࣰا﴿ ٧٠ ﴾

Except those who repent and believe (in Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allah will change their sins into good deeds, and Allāh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful

Chapter on Repentance - Lesson 10

Question to Shaykh Anwar Wright:  In the city of Vancouver, Canada, there are a number of graduates from the Islamic universities in Saudi Arabia. In some cases, they have set up classes in centres and masjids not known for salafiyyah. Some of the youth who are new to salafiyyah have gathered around them. However, they have some questions about this. When they ask these individuals what scholars they take from, they will mention some of the kibar (major scholars). When it comes to teaching they will teach from popular books of aqidah (i.e. Kitāb al-Tawḥīd, Ṣifah Ṣalāt al-Nabī etc.). However, in some cases, if they are asked about Salafis who preceded them (in the daʿwah), like when asked about Salafi Publications they give obscure answers such as, “we do not know anything bad of them" or when asked about TROID (which has been present in Canada for 27 years), they say: “I’m not aware of them”. What is your advice to the young Salafi who is trying to ascertain who to take knowledge from in the West?

– Reflection on how time is passing by.
– Statements of the righteous regarding how passing of time means that we are moving towards the hereafter.
– The statement of Hasan al Basri shows how a person’s life is but is only a number of days.
– The way of the Salaf was to make dua to be able to reach Ramaḍān and after Ramaḍān they would make du'ā for it to be accepted.
– Messenger of Allah ‎ﷺ would give glad tidings to his companions at the commencement of Ramaḍān.
– Aḥādith mentioning the virtues of Ramaḍān.
– The real purpose of fasting.
– Explanation of the narration: “O Seeker of good, come forth!”
– Importance of making dua to reach Ramaḍān and then to make du'ā for tawfeeq in Ramaḍān.

- Asking ourselves, how are we going to end this beautiful month?
- Following the example of the Messenger ﷺ in exerting ourselves in these last ten nights.
- Ibn Rajab (رحمه الله) on how the Messenger ﷺ would spend the final nights of this blessed month.
- Jibrīl’s (عليه السلام) du’ā against the one who reaches Ramadān and his sins are not forgiven.
- A warning against being heedless in the final moments of Ramadān.
- A lifetime of worship to Allāh in a single night.
- The one who is truly deprived.
- The du’ā the Messenger ﷺ taught ‘Ā’ishah (رضى الله عنها) to say on Laylatul-Qadr.
