Allāh, the Most High said: 'I am to my slave as he thinks of Me. If he has good thoughts of Me, then that is good for him, and if He has bad thoughts (of me) then that is bad for him.'

📜 The Prophet ﷺ said that Allāh says,

“I am [towards my servant] as my servant’s expectation of Me and I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me in his self, I will remember Him in My self, and if he remembers me in a gathering, I will remember him in a better gathering. If he advances towards Me [in obedience] by a handspan, I advance towards him [with acceptance and reward] by a forearm’s length, and if he advances towards Me [in obedience] by a forearm’s length, I advance towards Him [with acceptance and reward] by an extended arm’s length. And if he comes to me [in obedience] walking, I come to him [with acceptance and reward] hurriedly. And whoever met me with an earth-full of sin, I would meet him with its like in forgiveness.”

The Importance of Attaining Knowledge By Abu Khadeejah

[30/05/2025] Ten Days Of Dhul-Ḥijjah & 'Eid Al-Aḍḥā - By Abu Khadeejah ‘Abdul Wāḥid حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.

Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:

- Rulings related to the first ten days of Dhul-Ḥijjah. 

- The general and specific takbīrāt, and narrations describing the actions of the Ṣaḥābah in this regard. 

- The takbīr of ‘Abdullāh b. Mas’ūd (رضى الله عنه).

- The best day with Allāh. 

- The days of ‘Eid. 

- An important aspect of these ten days that many people leave out.

- Description of the sacrificial animal of the Messenger ﷺ, and who he would sacrifice on behalf of. 

- The Uḍḥiyyah is an emphasised Sunnah that should not be left for the one who has the ability. 

- Proof for the permissibility of seven people/families sharing in the sacrifice of one cow/camel. 

- The days on which the sacrifice can be performed. 

- Problems and oppositions to the Sunnah that arise from sending money abroad for the sacrifice.

- Proof that the one intending to slaughter should withhold from cutting his hair and clipping his nails.

- The ruling on doing so forgetfully, unintentionally or deliberately. 

- The animals that are acceptable to be sacrificed and their ages.

- Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymīn (رحمه الله) on singling out a sacrifice on behalf of the deceased.

- The permissibility of a woman slaughtering.

- The validity of the sacrifice of the one who deliberately cuts his hair or nails. 

- The permissibility of giving some of the meat of the sacrificed animal to non-Muslims.

Islam Is The Sunnah and The Sunnah Is Islam: One Is Not Established Except With The Other - Shaykh Abu Khadeejah  

• Virtues of Imām al-Barbahārī and his foundational book Sharḥ al-Sunnah
 • Emphasis on adhering to Islām and the Sunnah, with a warning against altering the religion — whether by adding to it or taking away from it
 • Reminder of the importance of unity and recognising Allāh’s favour:
“And remember Allāh’s Favour on you—for you were enemies one to another but He joined your hearts together…”
(Surah Āl-ʿImrān 3:103)
 • The importance of following the Sunnah and not attaching oneself to individuals or scholars, regardless of their status — except the Prophet ﷺ
 • The understanding of the companions of Allāh’s Messenger ﷺ is the only understanding that carries weight and authority in the religion
 • Ibn Masʿūd (radiyallāhu ʿanhu) said: Follow the Āthār and do not innovate, for indeed you have been sufficed.”
 • The famous narration of Muḥammad Ibn Sīrīn: They never used to ask about the chain of narration. But when the fitnah occurred, we started to ask: ‘Name us your men.’”
A foundational principle highlighting the importance of verifying sources, especially in times of trial and confusion
 • How the companions resolved disputes — by referring back to the Qur’ān and Sunnah, as stated in the verse: “And if you differ in anything among yourselves, refer it to Allāh and His Messenger, if you believe in Allāh and the Last Day.” (Surah al-Nisā’ 4:59 )
 • The advice of the Prophet ﷺ regarding times of confusion: To return affairs back to the beginning — to the era and understanding of the companions of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ

- “Verily the likeness of (this) worldly life is as the water (rain) which We send down from the sky, so by it arises the intermingled produce of the earth of which men and cattle eat until when the earth is clad with its adornments and is beautified, and its people think that they have all the powers of disposal over it, Our Command reaches it by night or by day and We make it like a clean-mown harvest, as if it had not flourished yesterday! Thus do We explain the āyāt in detail for the people who reflect. Allāh calls to the home of peace and guides whom He wills to a Straight Path.” [Sūrah Yūnus 10:24-25]
