Since moving here last year Dominic has taken up bell ringing. This morning was the first Sunday where he rang the bells before a service. A little bit of walking, a car passes while the bells ring in  St Helens Church up the lane. As a 6-year-old Dominic was less keen on bells, here he is at the bell foundry at Villedieu-les-Poêles in 1999.

Nottingham poet Panya Banjoko explains how she wrote 'A Pause'. Created during lockdown, the crowd-sourced poem captures how we felt when the world paused.

Panya based the poem on contributions from ninety-three Nottingham residents, spanning all ages. Panya took the themes for their submission and used them as the basis for a new poem for the city. A video of the poem has been create, read by 31 of the contributors.

Part of City Arts’ Words of Wisdom project.

One amazing and surprising thing about the studio is the gift of an acoustic for chanting – I could never have expected it. Such an unusual shape, and I’m sure no acoustic designer would have come up with its triangle form going up to a high apex, and yet the sound for speech, and singing is clear and resonant, every individual sound can be heard and yet it is simultaneously gathered together in one holistic sound.
