Small Great Things boss Luca Olivotto is back on his own imprint end of April with
the four track ‘It’s Too Dark’ EP.
In recent years, Italy via Berlin artist Luca Olivotto has been etching his mark on the
underground House scene through his labels Small Great Things, Endless Music
and recently minted At A Glance, as well as his Small Great House events series.
Here the story continues with a fresh collection of works from the prominent House
producer and DJ.
Opening is title-track ‘It’s Too Dark’, a six minute excursion through bright piano
keys, swinging drums, soulful vocal stylings and a bumpy bass hook. ‘It’s Over’
follows and dives into deeper House territory with warm strings, organ stabs, and
choppy subs intertwined with crisp drums, soft Rhodes and cut up vocals.
Opening the flip-side is ‘I Found You’, upping the energy levels again with a high
energy melodic drive, hypnotic vocal lines and heavily shuffled drums. ‘See Thru’
then concludes the release and leans into a more Disco-tinged House realm with
intertwined funk samples, sweeping filter work and intricately processed vocal
chants running atop a sturdy rhythmic foundation.

Starting off with our Munich homeboys from COEO. Known for their funked up house tunes on Toy Tonics, they start into complete new realms this time. ‚Never Going Home‘ is the perfect example of a dope broken beat electro tune, that with it’s weird synth line & smooth breakdown never failed on a gig in the last months.
On A2 the man Doppelate from London (Let’s Go Swimming Rec.) exactly hits the spot with mezmerizing synths, tight drum programming and a crunchy acid bassline on ‚Four Feet Up The Stairs‘.
The flip side starts off with label head honchos Rhode & Brown, who teamed up with their buddy Leo Woelfel from Austria, both known for releases on Toy Tonics, Public Possession or Let’s Play House. Here the name ‚More Drama (Less Hysteria)’ says it all: Pure drama on this breaky acid tune!
To round up this great package we’ve got Marco Lazovic from Moscow on B2. He digs deep‚ In The Jungle’ with rolling 707 drums, dreamy synths and this tropical atmosphere we can’t get enough of.

London-based artist and industry mainstay Jeigo makes his debut on PETS Recordings with his deep four tracker We Are Nothing. Being as versatile as the artist's taste those four takes express and portray what Jeigo has put his mindset in over the past years, when working for Phonica, Rye Wax or Juno Records. The A2 of the EP, Beyond, offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse at a musical level and basically does what the track title suggests at a deep and intimate level. With a slightly dubbish note and softly coming in vocals the track coopts its listeners as quickly as the bass shuffles its way to them and is covered by atmpospheric pads setting the basis for melancholic yet deep piece of music whose vocals burn into one's mind and never let go.

Jeigo's EP We Are Nothing will be released on PETS Recordings on September 18th, 2020.

Perspective finds Veermeer exploring a nuanced and emotional lo-fi house sound, ripe and ready for the South African summer. This 4 track EP showcases warm grooves and intimate pads, complemented by carefully crafted percussive intricacies. Perspective is rooted in a strong 90’s aesthetic, one that feels as nostalgic as it is timeless. Drawing influence from Hip Hop, Chicago house and breakbeat, the EP also features a collaboration with past City Bowl contributor Ray Bennett.
