FPI Project - Rich in Paradise/Going Back to my Roots (WORXRemixed)

Exhilarating jungle percussion accelerates you on a tempered manhunt through the back streets of Brazil. Trippy vocals samples, building keys and bass intensify your chase after the armed bandit, who's shots ring out ahead before your partner gets tragically caught up up in the crossfire. As each layer is distorted and mixed out into silence, an echoing vocal sample and pulsating gunshot further escalate the chase through the bustling streets. In the midst of a flutter of colour and bodies, you keep your eyes peeled on the culprit every step of the way, fighting your way through the crowd. In a reprise of rhythmic jungle percussion, synth and bass flow before the fugitive makes his escape over a low mountain range ahead.

This new release is from Matt Sassari who is a French producer presenting a solo EP following his collaboration with D-Unity, which was released on Intec earlier in the year was a much anticipated follow-up to their top selling EP titled Fire Up This is Matt Sassaris first solo EP for Intec and his music can also be found on labels including SCI+TEC, Tronic, Bitten, and UMEKs 1605, amongst many others of a similar calibre. He has also featured a solo EP on Techno pioneer Kevin Saundersons label KMS Records. 

Also a popular DJ who regularly flies between continents to headline some of the worlds best clubs, this release is trademark of Matt Sassaris diverse sound that incorporates tough percussion with rolling grooves and intense atmosphere. Rock Trick opens the EP with a thundering kick drum and clattering atmospheric percussion, which sound like the inner workings of a powerful machine. Full of torque and an abundance of horsepower, this tracks full throttle groove is enough to rock the foundations of any Techno club. Second is the dark atmosphere and growing tension of "Brigade" that packs in rubbery textures and spooky FX, which is not for the feint hearted. Building with snare rolls and unnerving vocal bursts, each bass drop grows with impact and the dancefloor intensity increases.

Something that never fails to rile is the disappearing sock phenomena. Ever prevailing in draws worldwide, a pair lasts no longer than two months before losing its other half - teleporting through bricks, mortar; dimensions. You have a few options; perpetually buy new pairs until the end of time or break the cycle - make something new with those left behind. 2Sox did just that with their OddSox compilation out last year. They return this time with 'OddSox vol 2', a heady blend of high grade cotton - pull 'em up and kick back.

We're premiering  'Marsone', the A1 of the record from one of Switzerland's finest exports - M44K. An infectious bassline and dreamy pads anchor the jam with that M44K hallmark stomp and dusty glitches present throughout. Really nice stuff - definitely worth a cop!

The mud is soaked after the heavy rainfall. It’s stormy but the new car you just purchased is in full automatic mode, cranking up the beats per minute formally unknown to the life of Susan. There are no goggles that will see through the fog ; no Granny Smith apple soup that summons the space before you. The wind turbines are blowing right in your face, but the elephant’s memory is better than it has ever been. That’s why DJ Swagger’s Green Waters explores the depth of the past, whilst crisply hovering over futuristic, transformed low-voiced samples that will most definitely build fires with nocturnal creatures. It’s quite safe to admire Susan’s step towards kebab eating binges and standard evening sessions.
The one-forty bpm exploration is furthered by Susan’s very own
Axefield, as he encompasses familiar sounds into a setting hitherto
unexplored within this realm. As the needle hits the 140 Trak, I begin to see an image of some kind of oil rig, digging deeper and deeper until it reaches the bottom of the sea level, delving straight into the nature and richness of oily oil. Right there, in that instance of discovery, the synthesised odour of recognition jumps right to the top of the surface, similar to a frog that is gasping for air. That frog, however, isn’t the only one in desperate need of oxygen. Our main man Raj was too. But that’s partly because he took a little too much of that good good. Flip the plate, fam. The B-Side is like waking up on a summery morning, firing up your old school desktop and being welcomed by that sound. You already know what Susan means with this one. And if you don’t, DJ Windows XP’s How Did You Know I Was Here will gently stroke your back until you feel comfortable enough to handle the waves that overflow your burnt coffee can, as the drop comes in like a banana falling upwards because gravity has most definitely now been defied. Raj, we ask you again: how did you know Susan was here ?
