BACKGROUND

J.RIDGE - A Young MC who is self-motivated, focused, confident and ready to get his game on. He rapped his first verse to a beat off a table in school and he has since followed his passion to perform to audiences around Sri Lanka.

Some say he's an unorthodox addition to the Sri Lankan hip-hop scene, while others say his voice is a throwback tribute to Q-Tip of the legendary A Tribe Called Quest. His lyrics are fierce and witty with a flow that's unique and all his own.

J.RIDGE is no novice in the game, he has also released a few remixed tracks on Sri Lankan radio - ”SWAGGA” featuring Clewz was a hot single that got heavy rotation on popular Colombo radio station KISS 898 COLOMBO. J.RIDGE has also worked with Sri Lankan hip hop label illnoize records, where he was featured on a hit single “GEMAK DELA” and he also appeared in the music video, which got major air-play on local radio and television stations. J.RIDGE has also been featured on the remix of Iraj’s hit single “AHETHA” which has been getting a lot of hits on the internet as well as radio airplay on local radio station YFM.
With the popularity garnered through these significant collaborations, J.RIDGE has also gotten the attention of record labels in the United Kingdom and has been offered to partner with them on future projects. 

CURRENT PROJECTS

After taking his time in the studio to put an album that will bring him respect and recognition amongst his peers and fans alike, J.RIDGE will be releasing his debut album “THE CHOSEN ONE”. 

The album consists of 12 original tracks (all recorded in English) experimenting with the different styles of the mainstream hip-hop genre including old skool, electro, rap, r&b, crunk and snap being a few. Giving the album a smooth blend and a personal touch, J.RIDGE is certain that this record is one that the Sri Lankan Hip Hop Movement and the Hip Hop Community has been waiting for.

When asked what the significance is of the album title “THE CHOSEN ONE”, J.RIDGE went on to describe that the album basically showcases him as being someone standing out from thousands of others trying to make it to the top. 

“THE CHOSEN ONE” album is produced by Clewz who composed the music for the album. The lyrics on all tracks on the record was written by J.RIDGE. The album also features collaborations with other artists like Clewz, Noel and Mitheshe.

FUTURE PLANS

J.RIDGE also plans to release his debut album "THE CHOSEN ONE" in Malaysia soon after its release in his home country of Sri Lanka.
