This month's Pulse show features an interview with May VSN guest and one of my favourite DJs ever, IMOGEN, who was kind enough to lend us some time for  quick chat about being based in London and how her come up in the game has gone so far. 

Following on from that we've got the live recording from my set at Electric Picnic RIGHT at the tail end of August. It's taken from the Friday night on the Rave in the Woods stage, right before Tommy Holohan and following on from Sputnik One and Endrift! 

Lots of tunes I play out quite a lot that you've probably heard in sets from me before but I just went with what suited then and not with radio in mind, which I'm sure everyone in attendance was happy with :)

For the seventh release on their main catalogue Keepsakes and Jaded Nineties Raver are once again working with Ireland’s top up-and-comer in the world of ridiculous techno bangers, Tommy Holohan, for the second release in his ‘Skull Crushing Techniques’ series. Following on from the success of his debut vinyl release on Haven last year, this release is just as banging, but represents a new turn in the young producer’s sound with greater focus on hardcore euphoria.

The A1 begins the record with ‘Unedeuxtrois’, where the skill of Tommy’s rolling drum programming shines through alongside cheeky sampling of French TV and the bliss of his new-found melodic pad work. This is followed by ‘Fear What You Don’t Understand’ on the A2 - featuring the same impressive drum skills propelled forward by a true ear-worm vocal sample that will see this track gracing many a dance floor. The B-side kicks off with ’Trancegression’ and it’s euphoric pads and tight rhythmic patterns in another perfect hardcore-inspired smasher. This is followed with a cheeky jungle number on the B2 with ‘Father’ - containing hectic breaks, uplifting pads and piano stabs to make for the perfect recipe for a rowdy 160bpm banger. The EP ends with the ambient exploration of ‘Mega.D’, with emotional and slowly evolving melodies creating the ideal wind-down to an EP filled with addictive dance floor fodder.

The Rave Selekts boss and Techno & Cans resident’s rise to worldwide notoriety has been unprecedentedly quick but most definitely deserved.Since he first emerged he has flexed his production muscles in a big way, showcasing styles across techno, rave, jungle as well as going as far as club house that has attracted the attention of big hitters like Dax J, Mall Grab and even Mixmag, all of whom have touted him on the highest platforms. Having released on his own label Rave Selekts along with fellow Irish talent Casper Hastings and then attracting the glistening ears of Resident Advisor and DJ Mag, who both premiered tracks from his first solo EP that took different aspects of his adolescence in Rush and reimagined them in four tracks that touch on ambient, rave, techno and break beat in what was easily one of the most interesting releases of the year on an international scale.  Following on from the success of his debut vinyl release on Haven last year, his next Haven release is just as banging, but represents a new turn in the young producer’s sound with greater focus on hardcore euphoria, released November 22nd
