Myths abound in the north when it comes to techno ground zero, and they refuse to go away. Oliver Huntemann is one of a handful of children of the north who, for what seems like an eternity, add an element of credence to the mythology. He does not, of course, live in a snowy forest or at the edge of the polar oceans. The sun does, on occasion, shine down on Hamburg.

Oliver Huntemann’s concrete roots can be traced back to early techno. Had he been any younger, he would undoubtedly have sucked electronica like mother’s milk from a C64 chip. Like so many of his colleagues, his route to techno took a tour through electro and rave. He could tell the usual veteran tales when it comes to influences, his first record purchases, or on the subject of the good old days. Been there, done that! It was more difficult maintaining a low profile.

Huntemann the producer and collaborator has racked up remixes for the likes of Chemical Brothers, Depeche Mode, Underworld (the list goes on) and his work with Dubfire now spans a good eight years (Elements, Dios, Diablo, Humano).
Since 2016, his residency at Watergate has been illuminating Berlin's nightlife quite brilliantly, whilst he continues to play clubs and festivals all over the planet: from Warung in Brazil and the Rex Club in Paris to BPM Festival in Mexico, Strawberry Fields and Let Em Eat Cake in Australia or Woogie Weekend in California.

On my first trip to Palestine in November 2017, El Oddz (Radio Nard) told me  that there is a palestinian techno dj and producer who goes by the name of Sama. I did not know about her before, so i was really flashed as 27-year old Sama Abdulhadi aka سماء 'SAMA basically started the whole underground electronic movement there and started mixing in 2006 at parties around Ramallah, Palestine. In 2013 she started her career in Cairo as an Audio Engineer, Music Producer, Audio Trainer and Sound Designer for films. In 2017, as she was about to settle in Paris, SAMA’ decided to change her artist name from Skywalker to SAMA’ her first name, meaning „sky“ in Arabic. Since April 2018, as she was selected as a Laureate by the French Institute, SAMA’ is attending a six months residency at the International City of Arts in Paris, during which she will work on her next album and develop a new live show.

You can catch سماء 'SAMA deejaying in April 2018 in Paris, Berlin, Ramallah and Betlehem. In May 2018 she is invited to play Electropicales #10 in La Reunion and at the end of June she will nourish the freaks at the main stage of Fusion Festival in Germany.

I was extremely honored to be featured on the legendary Essential Mix show this summer...  When I was in college, my teacher used to play us Essential Mixes in class, and on the 20th anniversary of the show,  Pete Tong was hosting James Zabiela and Sasha at the Warehouse Project in Manchester. I was the first one in the queue and the last one to leave the club! I will never forget that night. This year I had the honor of meeting Pete Tong at IMS Ibiza, and I think you can imagine how overwhelming it was to be invited to record a set for the show.  Here is my Essential Mix. The arabic term "Samâ" means in the language of mysticism: whirling or listening. During a samâ ceremony, subtle vibrations are created by playing frame drums (daffs) that grasp the heart and also induce mystical trance. Thus Samâ, the art of listening among the Sufis, refers to the perception of inner vibrations. For me personally the word “sama” functions as a methaphore for conscious listening and dancing.
